I had a fantastic stay at ゆふいん花由 last month, and it truly exceeded my expectations. This accommodation is definitely worth it!
Upon arrival, the staff was incredibly welcoming, guiding us to park our car and serving us refreshing yuzu drinks at the reception. The check-in process was seamless, with a staff member assisting us throughout. I appreciated the opportunity to choose a yukata for our visit to the onsen; there were so many lovely styles to select from!
After check-in, a staff member escorted us to our room and provided a thorough tour, explaining everything we needed to know to get comfortable. The hotel thoughtfully prepared separate amenity bags for men and women, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a mask included in the women's bag. The room itself was well-equipped with everything we could possibly need, including a massage chair, a TV with YouTube access, a foot bath, a bathtub, and a private onsen. The spacious washroom came stocked with a complete set of skincare products for both men and women.
The public onsen facilities were immaculate, and I loved soaking in the outdoor onsen while stargazing. The only drawback was that our room was a bit far from the onsen, making it a bit chilly to walk there in the cold weather.
One morning, we enjoyed breathtaking views of the sea of clouds from the reception's balcony. The staff was kind enough to take photos for us, capturing the stunning scenery.
Breakfast was another highlight—delicious and beautifully presented, complemented by excellent service throughout our stay.
Overall, my experience at ゆふいん花由 was wonderful, and I can't...

The hotel reached out in advance to coordinate pick-up and meal times. Check-in was seamless and professional. We stayed in Room K, with a private onsen and foot bath with breathtaking views of Mt. Yufuin. The room was spotless and spacious, and featured a massage chair that my parents enjoyed.
The in-room garden was a peaceful retreat we spent a decent amount of time in. We selected this room for its detached layout. Coming from Tokyo this seclusion was much needed.
Dinner and breakfast were served in a private dining room. Food portions were abundant, and the quality surpassed that of most onsen hotels. The only slight drawback was the limited drink selection, and given the hotel’s remote location, in-room liquor service would have been a thoughtful addition.
Above all, the hallmark of our stay was the outstanding service. Every member of the staff, from front to back, had such warm smile and welcoming attitude. It was the perfect balance between professionalism and a personal touch, something I don’t always find at hotels in Japan. My parents don’t speak Japanese, the staff (who spoke decent English!) made a concerted effort to include them during the room tour.
All in all, our stay was a delightful and memorable experience thanks to all the staffs. And we cannot wait to experience different seasons and other sceneries that Hanayoshi...
Read moreWe stayed at this ryokan upon recommendation by a friend who visited Kyūshū before. Overall we love our stay. ||Entering the ryokan reminds me of the villas in Phuket or Danang. This is like the Japanese version of luxurious villa. We stayed at a separate house with beautiful semi open private Onsen. The view was awesome. ||The dinner was so so to us, partly because some of the fusion dishes aren’t really our cup of tea, but we must say we absolutely love the breakfast served by the hotel. The dining room was beautiful too with a good view of the area near the hotel.||The bed was comfortable. The room was spacious and nicely decorated with a western style. Would be even better if there can be electric socket near the bedside and boxed tissues like other Japanese hotels we visited, but these are merely nice to haves and not must haves anyway. Overall, we still love our room. ||Apart from the awesome private Onsen, the public Onsen is worth mentioning too. It was a luxury enjoying Onsen in a big bath with beautiful view of the Yufuin area. The public bath was very big, and there was a smaller pool for children. The amenities in the ladies room was good with a few separate tables for drying hair, applying skincare. There was also free iced bottled water for guests who finished using the bath. We would recommend people to try the public bath too. ||The staff here speak English too so there is no issue with communicating...
