United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) — Local services in Nairobi

I visited sometime last week for a a tour of the United Nations Offices which are offered at 500ksh (5usd) for Kenyan citizens and 1200ksh (12usd) for residents.

The tour is offered by the UN visitors service and is open to anyone. All you need to do is visit the UNON website send an email with your details ( name and identification details) and await a response. Payments are made in cash at the premises.

I really enjoyed our tour led by Verona, it was very interactive, educative and enlightening. Ours was in English, although you can have yours in either Swahili, German, Chinese or French.

The most welcoming landscapes in the entire piece of land needless to say that very well protected in terms of security features. I worked in the complex for more than six years during the 90's and todate, the level of maintainance is still the same if not better. The are several office block buildings, banks, libraries, restaurants, shoping complex for staff, recreation facilities, and ample secure organized parking spots for visitors as well. Its located in gigiri along UNEP avenue it has a cool environment organised visits are also possible with the organization.The visits are payable at a certain fee and the most amazing thing is that ones you organise for a visit you will be guide through the nature trails and various parts as you are educated on various facts.within the complex there are mobi-bikes that u can use to move around the complex when you find it hard to walk around on foot.the security is not a threat for they have employed professional and experienced security officers with high-tech surveillance equipment and powerful machinery.
