I loved Solo Grano until I met the owner. Walking towards the restaurant we met this lovely waitress carrying divine looking king prawns, I was curious so asked her to bring us the menu as we looked for somewhere to sit. We found the makuti bar and I asked the barman(lovely chap) if we can have sit at the bar get some drinks and order a few bites from Solo Grano and maybe even the seafood place, he said it is okay. The waitress from the seafood brought the menu. A few minutes later a foreign looking guy in cornrows VERY rudely asked us "You are sitting at MY place and ordering from somewhere else?" Weh! Boss usinharibie mood! I was very chilled and told him I had asked for permission, that I plan on ordering pizza/drinks and also that I am happy to move. He grumbled a bit, the young man next to him told him to relax and we ordered our pizza and drinks and sat by the makuti bar filled with this strange tension. We ended up moving in the end, because we felt unwelcomed, such a pity for an owner of any establishment to have such an attitude. I did notice Indians and Caucasians were very welcomed . Anyway the pizza tasted strange and not as enjoyable as I remembered but the King Prawns from Gropper Seafood...
Read moreWhile the location is nice, the Manager treated my sister and I in an extremely condescending and contemptuous way. After being seated by the staff in a table for 2 and provided the menus, the manager came to us and without even offering us an explanation, removed our possessions and dumped them on our laps so that he could move the table to another location. When we asked what was going on, he sneered at us and stated that we were only a party of two yet he was looking to combine tables for 8 people. All this while, a group of waiters were aghast pointing at the empty tables beside us begging him to take those tables but he ignored them. We decided to leave and he did not even have the courtesy or business acumen to either apologize or even look at us, as if happy to not have our business. I had been there before with friends and the staff were nice, pizzas were good but I will not return to this establishment as long as that small, meek, rude and dismissive...
Read moreI love the food they have. By god, the focaccia and the margarita pizza are amazing in taste. There's an amazing char from the pizza oven, which feels like wood and coal... Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also just a very simple thing but the chili oil they provide is just perfect with the pizza.
Now the service, I don't wanna criticise much but I did wait 40 mins after ordering to get my pizza. I don't think it's a slow kitchen just the staff were not attentive to me sitting by myself. They seemed to be paying more attention to the groups, but not just singular tables.
Solo Grano has always just been a vine with the the outdoor sitting and open kitchens, so yeah great place to go with friends and family......
