We sat by the pool and that was easily the best part of the visit. The ambience is calm and stylish, and on weekdays it’s quiet enough to make it a great spot for working or just relaxing. The service also stood out. The deaf waiters were attentive, kind, and added a thoughtful touch that we really appreciated.
The food, however, didn’t live up to the setting. The sliders were good and the tacos were okay, but the rest fell short. The wings were bad, the loaded fries didn’t hit the mark, the mutura was blunt and lacked flavor, and the pizza came out so hard we had to send it back. The coffee even arrived cold, though they did warm it up when we asked.
When we raised our concerns with the manager, we were given a complimentary dessert, which was actually very good. Still, it says a lot that dessert after a complaint ended up being the highlight of the meal.
Sage is worth visiting for the ambience, the poolside vibe, and the service, but until the food improves it doesn’t quite deliver the...
Read moreThe cafe is in a serene and peaceful location. I also loved the fact that they employ differently abled individuals and shows their initiative in making society more accessible for people living with disabilities. However, the food was underwhelming and presentation was lacking. I had different plates of chicken wings, fish fingers and battered fish all which came with fries. The fish fingers were over cooked and almost burnt. The chicken wings were bland. The battered fish was not crunchy as is expected of battered fish. I also had fish tacos…these too were uninteresting…only topped with beetroot and guacamole. The only enjoyable part of the meal was the dessert which was a salted caramel crepe.
I’d say it is a good place if you’re looking for ambience, the price point is reasonable and that’s just about it.
But if you want to excite your taste buds, don’t expect much especially if you have an experienced palette. No...
Read moreI am horrified by how a foreign supervisor was treating the staff. He was at a table behind me yelling at the staff about an order that was wrong. He yelled repeatedly to a person with a hearing impairment “look at me when I’m talking to you” and was incredibly dehumanizing in an environment that is meant to be safe and inclusive. I could hear the entire conversation he was having with the staff member and offered them no privacy for the conversation.
I’m a regular customer at the Lavington location and this was my first time at the Gigiri branch. He made it an extremely uncomfortable experience and has made me distrust the values of the entire social enterprise. My server was wonderful and is the only...
