Very disorganized unfortunately. My partner and I booked online and were told that we would be picked up at our hotel lobby at 7:25. We were there at 7am, and at 7:35 received a message that they left without us. They never came to the lobby; they were at the front gate of the resort over 1km away from the lobby. Why wouldn't they tell us they'd be at the gate, and also why not give tell us when they got there and give us some time to fetch a cab to the gate vs. once they already left? We ended up having to catch a taxi to meet them in Playa Del Carmen which cost over $40 USD.
The trip itself was also unorganized. Once we got to Playa, they didn't know who was supposed to be on the bus and who wasn't, they went through the list 4-5 times before they let us on the bus. Once on the bus, we didn't get to our first destination (cenote+ buffet lunch) until around 11am. On the way there, they informed us that the mandatory lifejackets + lockers + drinks at the first stop would be expensive, so we should get their diamond package for $20USD each which included all that and unlimited drinks. Sounding like a good deal, we went for it. Unfortunately we had to flag down the attendants for each drink and they seemed highly annoyed anytime we asked for anything. We got a total of 3 drinks the entire time because they didn't want to come around and serve us.
A LOT of time is spent at the first destination. They told us "10 minutes only" multiple times, which made no sense because we were eating lunch and swimming in the cenote. It ended up being 2.5 hours. The buffet was sad; there was popcorn, some soup, mashed potatoes, and some pulled pork but not even any tortillas for making tacos or anything. There were no drinks included, not even a glass of water, even though they told us this was included in the diamond package. Worst part - they wouldn't even let us drink from our own water bottles while eating lunch, they wanted us to pay extra for it.
Even though the tour is called Chichen Itza, we spent 12/14 hours either travelling or just doing random stuff. We spent less than 2 hours at Chichen and only got to see maybe 1/3 of the site if that. That is the whole reason we went for this tour, was to see Chichen Itza.
To top it off, once arriving at Chichen they told us the mosquitos were BAD and that it was super humid. They offered us bug spray (for a price) and really made us feel that it was necessary. We spent $10USD on a tiny 3 inch spray that was actually just citronella. Once we got to Chichen Itza, we didn't see ONE mosquito. Not a single one.
Overall, very disorganized and misleading. We spent so much money on the trip on top of the initial excursion price that we had barely anything left at the end of the day, we only had 40 pesos for our tour guide at at Chichen, who was awesome. I'd be very wary when booking a trip like this, do your research; I do not recommend this company.
Pros: Chichen Itza tour guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. Showed us many cool things about the site that we wouldn't have known otherwise. However, I understand this man was hired by Chichen Itza and not this specific company. wifi on the bus (only worked half the time though) The attendants were funny at times
Cons: Very disorganized, may not pick you up from your lobby as promised leaving you to scramble expensive, they try to get you to buy upgrades and unecessary stuff for steep prices under the guise that you'll need it barely come around with drink services, you have to ask and they'll act annoyed/inconvenienced when you do barely any time spent at Chichen Itza spoke mostly in Spanish despite stating it was a...

We did not receive: Morning Box Lunch on board the bus Drinks on board the bus (Water, Soda and Beer) 1 alcoholic beverage included in the buffet with a variety of typical foods of the region. A bottle of purified water at the entrance of the archaeological area.
Also, the tour company charged us an extra $40/person when we boarded the bus. I was also charged a fee of $158 from Viator for this tour. I was informed from the tour company that our tour was reserved but not paid for and the cost was $158. They also informed me that they did not have any tours with the items that are on your website for deluxe.
We paid $207 through your website. Where did that money go?
I would appreciate any information you can give me regarding...
Read moreWe had a fantastic tour with Amigo Tours and our guide Rodrigo was just terrific. We loved him. Chock full of great info, facts, pictures to pass around and history that's not always in books. It's a dang shame that people felt the need to vandalize this beautiful place and now boone can climb the pyramid or go inside anymore. The grounds are meticulously kept, and the guides are all very on top of anyone attempting to chew gum, smoke, eat, or drink anything other than water. There's so much more to this place than I ever knew and I'm so glad we went. I knocked one star off my review however, for all the vendors inside the grounds. Every five feet there's booths set up with people hawking cheap trinkets, blowing whistles, using some toy that sounds like a growling wild animal, and calling to you to come look at their stuff. It's a definite detractor from what feels like a sacred place. They cheapen the experience and they often make listening to your guide difficult because they're so obnoxious. They should be made to set up outside where you exit, not inside the temple areas. But overall it's an amazing, A+ place that I highly recommend you see. BRING SUNSCREEN!!! There isn't any shade and the...
