I stayed here for 5 nights starting on November 12, 2023. Overall, I really liked it. I chose it for the price and because it is not a resort-style hotel. I am a middle-aged man getting medical procedures done and even though my treatment is being done in the hotel zone, I didn’t want all of the noise and excitement of that area so I chose a hotel|in this area to rest and recuperate. The other guests were apparently of a similar, no-nonsense mindset because they were all quiet and respectful. I do hotel security in NYC and this is the kind of environment I also like to work in for obvious reasons: Less headaches.||All of Front Desk staff were very good. They were very receptive and helpful—particularly the tall woman working during the day. My housekeeper was great. The breakfast lady was nice and breakfast was good with a slightly limited, but still very adequate menu.|Physically, the hotel is aging. I suppose due to the climate here and the rainy season, there were some leaks in some common areas. As someone who has worked in hotels for 30 years, I realize the challenges that smaller, boutique-style hotels like this face with upkeep. They only have 30 or so rooms to draw revenue from and probably only 1 handyman/engineer on duty during the day, so they have to carefully prioritize repairs to stay within budget. The elevator seemed to have a certain temperament, as well. Again: the affordable room rate, the good service and the peace and tranquility I experienced more than made up for this.||The room itself was large by NYC standards. I wasn’t crazy about the plumbing as they have those “efficiency” toilets that don’t flush well and the shower was one of those overhead “natural rain” dispersion plates that doesn’t give you a lot of pressure. However, the water was hot when needed and the sink pressure was fine. The linens were always very clean and in good repair and the towels were refreshed daily and smelled great. You also get a small, well-mounted room safe and a dorm-style fridge that they stock daily with free sodas and waters. The room has a pretty big, wall-mounted TV, but unfortunately for me, all of the programming was in Spanish. There is a pool on the rooftop, but apparently is has been out of service for some time now as older reviews also mention it not being available. I had packed swim trunks hoping to take a dip. Oh well.||The room security leaves a little something to be desired. While the door lock uses a fairly modern keycard system, the door itself had no deadbolt or safety latch which in most big cities is a no-no. The rooms have small terraces, which are nice, but Housekeeping must remember to secure them when they’re done cleaning.||As I said, the hotel is not in the heart of Central Cancun or in the hotel zone—it’s in a more suburban area. So, aside from traffic, there is thankfully no street noise. If you’re into upscale restaurants, there are plenty to choose from, but there is absolutely no shopping on the main street except for a Costco. Read moreBefore arriving to Kabah Boutique Hotel I contacted the hotel directly to ask a couple questions in 2 weeks in advanced. I had 3 questions my questions were “ How much would it be for decorations in the room some balloons and roses I would like a price quote? Reception replied in a email and said $35 I didn’t reply neither confirm that I would like any decorations because I thought the price was extremely pricey and ridiculous for some balloons and and rose petals. My next question was “ Can you guys get me ( 5 ) one litter vitamin d milk for my son? ( PICTURE SENT OF THE MILK BRAND AND KIND ) Claudia replied and said that they will have the milk ready upon arrival. “ My next question was “ Do you guys have a baby crib available? if so please add a crib to my hotel room” Franco replied “ Yes mam we have a crib available and ready for the baby upon arrival “ As arriving to Kabah Boutique Hotel I was greeted by a young man and a women named Claudia. The young man told me we have something special I was already checked in and ready to go to my room without them even telling me anything about the milk that was needed because they told me it was going to be in the room waiting for me. I was confused and wondering what was the special surprised as walking to my room because I didn’t ask for anything at all or confirm anything with the hotel. As walking into my room I see rose petals on the floor and two balloons and roses on the bed I was confused because I didn’t ask or confirmed with the hotel for any decorations. There was no crib available for my child upon request, there was no milk available upon request. It was extremely late in the night my child was crying for atleast 15 minutes because he was hungry and there was no milk upon request. I went down to talk to Claudia because of the milk issue and first thing she told me that the cost for the decorations is $30US I was confused because I didn’t ask for any decorations neither confirmed with anybody that I wanted any decorations. Which is completely ridiculous because I had to pay $30US for something that I didn’t ask for they just assumed that this was something I wanted when I just asked for a “ price quote in the first place “ Then I asked Claudia if I get the milk for my child was crying for 15mins due to the fact that he was hungry when Claudia and all receptionist staff knew that I was coming in a late place ride. Claudia had the audacity to tell me that there was no milk for me that they got the wrong milk and I told her but I asked for the milk in advanced and I sent the picture of what kind of milk I wanted and how many containers of milk I wanted. So she told me that she sent somebody to go get some milk for my child I had to wait for at least 15-20 minutes to receive any milk she didn’t apologize or tell me sorry or anything for the inconvenience. This was really upsetting and disappointing it was a long night for myself and child. Claudia came up and knocked on my room door and only gave me 2 milk containers when I needed 5 containers and asked for 5. This was really disappointing, bad customer service and false advertising in...
