Made a note of this little quaint shop to visit while on the island exploring and it did not disappoint! Such a great and cute small shop ran by local mayan women. The women were extremely welcoming and very friendly when walking in, sat in the doorway creating new handmade items for sale, they sell all sorts of bracelets, anklets, necklaces, earrings and other beaded items. They are extremely reasonable in price with items as low as 50 pesos, I brought a cute anklet which cost 100 pesos and some of the bracelets are 150 pesos each. I'm unsure of how much the earrings/necklaces cost as I don't really wear these myself, however such a quaint little shop and worth a visit even if just for a look around! Would definitely recommend and visit again...

I could not tell where she repaired it. I bought three sets of earrings from them. They were only $100 pesos (2018 conversion USD price was $5). Each lady has their name connected to each piece. It ended up that the daughter of the lady who did the repair made the earrings I bought. Please visit this store BEFORE shopping for beaded jewelry in the tourist shops in the downtown area. It...
Read moreWe have been wanting to visit the Women's Beading co-op for years and somehow never got there. It's easy to find (you will need a golf cart to get there from almost anywhere on the island) but easy to miss if you are not intentionally looking. The women working inside are friendly and welcoming. The work is beautiful and there are all kinds of lovely pieces to choose from. The boys bought anklets (100 pesos each). I got a cute pair of earrings (50 pesos). Don't miss the photo of RBG wearing a signature collar gifted to her by the co-op! Very cool. There are lots of places to buy beaded jewelry in town but these are the real deal...made on the island...not in China...and at the...
