My husband and I were celebrating our honeymoon in Curacao, and actually found Chef Brandon’s services on TripAdvisor. It was very easy to book our dinner and floating breakfast via email communications. And he was incredibly informative and flexible. He kept us informed up to each service.
Our first booking was for a floating breakfast with Chef Troy, and it was such a pleasure. He is extremely professional, yet so very personable, kind, and knowledgeable of food and ingredients. The three of us immediately hit it off! It’s always nice when the host has a sense of humor and makes you feel more like family than a client. My husband and I had to catch ourselves and try not to talk him to death, as the conversations were just that great. We began with delicious yogurt parfaits with fresh fruit, and the best mimosas I’ve ever had. He did not miss with presentation! Next was a crab and cream cheese topped bagel (so good!). In our floating basket was homemade pancakes, bacon, freshly baked croissants, chocolate chip cookies, fresh fruit, and hoisin glazed chicken sausage, atop garlic butter eggs - neatly plated and set inside of a basket that would float inside our private villa pool - both aesthetically pleasing and delicious!
He is very quick on his feet and accommodating also. I unfortunately forgot to mention my husband’s shell fish allergy. We didn’t realize it until he brought the dish out that featured crab meat. With no hesitation, he took it back and returned with a new, crab-free variation. It looked so yummy, I was almost a little jealous.
We enjoyed Chef Troy so much that we requested him for our dinner a couple days later. When he arrived, it was like seeing an old friend. We actually let him cook in peace this time, haha. Dinner was shredded chicken tostone (appetizer), stewed oxtail with truffle mashed potatoes and asparagus, with cake for dessert - PHENOMENAL! He even lit up little sparkler candles when he brought our dessert out. Even the water was beautiful and naturally alkalized with fresh fruit (I couldn’t stop drinking it on both occasions).
As he tidied the kitchen back up, we chatted a bit more and got the most interesting history lesson about the island, as well as a few laughs. We hated to see him go but enjoyed him and his cooking so very much. We highly recommend him, hands down. He will not disappoint! Thank you Troy for the best time and meal....
Read moreWe booked this private chef experience based on a personal recommendation of Chef Brandon. Unfortunately, no one notified us in advance that a different chef would be coming — we only found out the night of. While Chef Troy was kind and professional, the lack of communication was frustrating.
Several issues made the evening feel far from special:
The dessert we pre-ordered wasn’t served. We were expecting a key lime meringue (highlighted as a specialty), but were instead given store-bought cheesecake without any notice or choice. As the birthday guest, I don’t even eat cheesecake. No one offered an apology in advance or a discount for the switch.
Dinner took far too long. The main course wasn’t served until nearly 9pm — hours after the chef arrived — and there was nearly a full hour gap between the soup and entrée. We were tired and had to ask for dessert to be expedited.
Clean-up was incomplete. We were left wiping down crumbs late into the night and found ourselves cleaning again in the morning because the mess had attracted bugs.
We shared this feedback directly, hoping to be constructive, but the response we received deflected blame and didn’t acknowledge our experience meaningfully. As a group that has hired personal chefs across multiple countries, this service fell short of the professional standard we expect — especially for a celebratory event.
Would not recommend, especially for a special occasion. We're not sure if the experience we had is because we were of our identities, as suggested by another service provider on the island, but do want to note, we hired a different company for the remaining days and had a much, much...
Read moreI recently vacationed in Curaçao with a group of nine people. Chef Brandon and his team visited our rented villa and cooked delicious breakfasts for us every morning and prepared a spectacular indulgent dinner on our last night there.
Chef and his team (I remember Yanely, Jason, and Chris; there were two other sweet ladies but I didn't get their names!) were professional, pleasant, punctual, friendly, and fun! They were nice enough to answer our questions, take pics with us, and give us some info on the island's history and attractions. And they cook so well!
Every single dish was divine! My favorite breakfast items were the sausage, avocado & cream cheese wraps, waffles, pancakes, parfaits, eggs (OMG so good!), bacon, croissants, mimosas, and, well, it was all good and plentiful!
For our dinner, we all had a tasty Caribbean salad. My appetizer was a puff pastry with seafood that was incredible. Like, I wanted more but I had more food coming. LOL! I also sampled a local dish called keshi yena with beef: delicious. My main entrée of sirloin steak with mushroom gravy was well-seasoned and tender and served on a bed of truffle mashed potatoes. Mmm! I had a large piece of moist red velvet cake for dessert and also sampled my husband's key lime tart. Both were delish! Oh, and Chef worked with a member of our party to arrange for a surprise birthday cake for her husband. It was a beautiful presentation!
If you are looking for a great team that will prepare unforgettable meals, don't bother looking any further. Book BC Private Chef and thank me...
