Curaçao Liqueur Distillery — Local services in Curaçao

We recently had the pleasure of visiting the Curacoa Liqueur Distillery located in Willemstad and we were all very pleased with our experience. We weren’t able to purchase tickets for a personalized tour as they were sold out for the day, but we were able to do our own tour, which was also very enjoyable. There are a lot of displays that give a history of Curacoa and the distillery itself, along with videos that describe the history of the liqueur itself and the distillery, which are both very interesting and informative!

There is also an opportunity to sample some of the liqueur outside at the bar and we had an amazing coffee drink which contained the chocolate liqueur and it was truly amazing! I would seriously return there just to have one of those drinks! There is also a gift shop that is full of unique gifts.

Overall, we truly enjoyed visiting the distillery and I would highly recommend it to others visiting the area. Learning about the history of the culture and the distillery itself was so worthwhile! This was a great place to learn about the history of the “blue curaçao” liquor that everyone knows. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, and did the tour in 2 different languages since the other people in our group didn’t speak English. The free samples were fun to try. We tried an orange colored orange liquor, tamarind liquor, and chocolate liquor. We loved the chocolate so much we bought a bottle to take home. Then at the end of the tour our guide gave us a cocktail menu to choose a drink from, and served us a round of drinks that was included in the “basic” tour. The drinks were really good, and they did not skimp on the booze. We were so happy with them, we decided to stay and have another drink after. Technically not a distillery. There is very little happening and the minimal content of the tour leaves a lot to be desired. Don’t expect to learn the history of the Curacao liqueur or the company that produces it at this facility. It’s an overly simplified romanticized narrative that doesn’t tell the real story. The actual quality of the liqueur they produce is terrible.

They claim their alcohol is 100% sugar cane based, however, the company that produces the ethanol they use do not guarantee the source will be sugar cane.
