Terrible hospital! I just burned my hand and the only thing I needed was to put urgently a cooling cream on my hand which I did not have at home at that time. However, when arriving at hospital the lady told me to use a cellphone which is hanging in the hospital to call some department inside the hospital while already being in the hospital. It took 1 hour til I was able to enter the hospital since apparently they expect you to have made an appointment for an unexpected emergency case. During this hour I went to the pharmacy which is from the hospital and on the other side of the street. The lady working there did not know anything, she was not able to tell me what to do when I burned my hand, she was not able to sell me any cooling cream but only some softening cream for the skin which she was not sure if it would help me. After finally one hour passed I managed to enter the hospital and a doctor came who put cooling cream on my hand. Since the pharmacy could not sell me any cooling cream I asked him if I could take this cream which he used for me home to apply it the next days on my hand and he told me it was not a problem. This was an already half emptied tube the doctor had but enough for me to use the next days. After some weeks I see that this doctor and hospital charged me for this cream on my insurance account without telling me at the hospital anything about it. Besides that the doctor did not use any gloves while putting the cream and bandage on my hand. I was very disappointed because the hospital was not full at all at this time and there were only two families with kids before me who had a more urgent case and had to wait for a very long time as well calling some number on a phone and without knowing when help would come. The absolutely worst hospital I have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had an excellent experience in the GI (gastroenterology) clinic and endoscopy at the MST.
I'm a Nurse Practitioner in the US but I live in Enschede & I've worked in 2 major university hospitals in California-- UCSF & Stanford.
So far, my experiences as a patient at the MST have been excellent. My specialist, Dr Smit & the GI specialist who did my endoscopy, Dr. Brenninkmeijer, both clearly were very well trained, compassionate & intelligent.
For those of you who are nervous about procedures, especially when you don't speak Dutch, my endoscopy went very smoothly. The registration and nursing staff were wonderful & put me at ease. I was allowed to wear my own comfy clothes and they explained each step. Having had the procedure twice before in the US, I was curious to see how this would go.
Dr. Brenninkmeijer was friendly yet professional & great at explaining everything as she went along. I was given appropriate IV sedation as well as an anesthetic for my throat. It was briefly uncomfortable, but not painful, and then I was asleep. I woke up in the recovery room with very kind nursing staff and recovered and eventually given something to drink and a snack to make sure I could return home.
It was about as good an endoscopy experience as you can get!Ā So, now I know not to be so nervous next time...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRegarding. DR. G. BALCI: My husband was in excrutiating pain (back and leg) and we needed a dr. to see him urgently as he could not walk or stand. At the huisartsenpost they asked us to call a certain nr to make an appointment. The assistant refused to make the appointment saying that since he could move his toes, he can't see a dr. I was appalled at this answer, especially since we could not leave the place, as my husband could not walk. She then said a dr will come to the hallway to speak to us. Someone called 'dr Balci' showed up, and make a mockery of my husband's situation, did not want to consult him, and said that he doesn't care we cannot leave the place because he cannot walk, as he is not a taxi company.
This guy is an embarassment to the Dutch medicine community, has no empathy whatsoever, and should not be calling himself a doctor. A doctor swears an OATH to care about his patients, this person did not do that whatsoever. We ended up at another hospital that evening, where my husband was diagnosed with herniated-disk and immediately given morphine, etc.
Later in the day, I saw on google that this Balci individiual is a botox and fillers doctor, besides being a GP, so now I understand more his complete lack of empathy. He probably thought he's talking to one of his...
