This review is for Erasmus School of Economics (ESE)
The university’s academic reputation is unmatched to its public image. It dropped out of top 200 in the QS ranking this year, scoring only 35 in “academic reputation” on the latest QS ranking, compared with UVA’s 82, Leiden’s 68 and Groningen’s 51. I wish I looked it up beforehand. Yet it makes you wonder where the toxic arrogance of the professors come from. The bad quality is reflected in your daily student life. Ask an alumnus you'd hear a rap sheet of complaints. Due to character limit, I won’t list them all here.
Many "professors" are lingering on steam power when the second industrial revolution has arrived. They primarily engage in a special discipline called “the science of paper production”. Don’t you dare to cast doubts, you will be met with a “We are omnipotent and infallible” attitude. In my opinion this school has very little to offer to students or to science.
Currently there is hardly any system of evaluation taking into account the perspectives of students. Making a sound choice of a university is like buying a lottery ticket. Most of the rankings such as the Times ranking only take into consideration indicators such as citations or research papers per staff, which have nothing to do with education. It’s like when buying stocks, you are not allowed to verify how the company is doing in its primary operations. Instead, you are presented with the company CEO’s credentials and net assets. Buying the wrong stocks cost you money, going to the wrong university costs you time and your future. Customer service doesn't exist to students - the customers of the education industry. If schools couldn't issue diplomas, who would still go to schools? Today, you can learn almost everything from the internet. It makes you wonder how much longer the current system may continue to exist.
How do we distinguish real scientists from “paper producers”? All scientific research can be roughly put into two categories: 1) establish abstract theories via deductions from real-life observations - the job of mathematicians and physicists 2) Apply abstract theories to solve real-life problems - the job of various engineers. Kepler and Newton used astronomical data to create laws of planetary motion and law of universal gravitation – abstract theorists; James Watt created the steam engine based on theories of mechanics – an applicant of theories. Besides these ppl, all the so-called scientists can be defined as “paper producers”.
There is a pressing need to separate teaching from research because enlightening souls and scientific research are utterly different tasks requiring different skill sets. For the sake of mankind's future, the return of higher education and research to their original purposes is a pressing matter. Let lecturers be real educators, not paper producers. Scientific research should be driven by curiosity and the freedom to...
Read moreThis is not a public educational institution like universities were supposed to be. It is rather a daycare facility where your opinion is only being respected if its woke!!!
Most toilets have recently changed into all-gender toilets without any saying from paying students or taking into account any awkward situations which could arise for women!
Its the Erasmus University’s goal to make the campus completely vegan, also without taking into account anything concerning the wants and needs of the paying students
Diversity politics! Erasmus is a very diverse and inclusive campus/university only if you fit into the criteria which they consider diverse or inclusive (It seems very much the case that students with woke ideologies have gotten away with much more than other students would’ve, like occupying campus buildings in which classes are supposed to take place)
The staffs pronounces, sexual identity and ethnical background seem to matter more then their ability to teach (Lots of phd tutors who only tutor for their phd, not because of their own interest or to teach students)
Erasmus magazine which promotes degenerate behaviour with for examples articles being written about student queer party’s in which it is supposedly normal to kiss with 30 different people in one night -When reading more of the articles it becomes very clear that these are being written by someone who is very biased by ofcourse woke ideology
After doing a bit more research about this university and finding out that the rector of Erasmus University Rotterdam ofcourse herself is openly part of the lgbqt community AND part of the political party D66 it had become very obvious that there is a specific agenda which is being rolled out here and if you cannot find yourself in this ideology, or at least had hoped to study at a neutral university, than you will very likely feel not welcome here!
If you happen to strongly believe in woke ideologies then this is the perfect...
Read moreAwful, terrible, most disorganised organisation to exist. Would not recommend any students to study here after the most arduous and stressful experience of my adult life. Being an international student, you'd think the student service centre would be a little more accommodating and helpful, but instead they spit in your face like they don't owe you anything (after you've paid thousands of euros) Oh, you have a question about the very university they are employed by? Forget it, they’ll send you to someone else who’ll send you to someone else until you’re back where you started. They have no consideration for the fact that some students have to work during their degrees and they don't even blink when you tell them it's impossible to find somewhere to live, even just a bed, not one bit of sympathy. Erasmus University of Rotterdam does not care one bit about your student experience and it does not come anywhere close to its...
