I went in yesterday to get some blu tack as I’m changing my room and this is the closest place i know that sells it. I got my blu tack and came up to the counter where the check out lady was serving another customer infront of me, there were no more dividers for me to seperate my stuff from hers so i placed my blu tack down at the end so it would be obviously apart from the other customer’s.
I briefly replied to a text message while the checkout lady was finishing up scanning the last persons things but as i looked up i WATCHED her look at my item, even making eye contact with me and move the conveyor belt so it went down the slot at the end! She pretended she didn’t notice and continued on with the previous customer.
Puzzled, I went back and grabbed another pack and put it back on the conveyor belt once again as she was now finished serving the last person. I waited in awkward silence as she scanned the item not bothering in the slightest to make any form of contact with me (even though she had been quite chatty with the customer infront of me) before chucking it aside. She stood smirking as i tried to hand her my $5 note through the safety shield, she took it and put it in the till. I waited for her to give me the $1 change as blu tack is clearly labeled on the shelf AND on the website as $4. She watched me for a second, looking me up and down as if i was mad before asking in a slow condescending tone “do you want a receipt or something” i opened my mouth to ask where my change was but before i could even start she was already scanning the next customers items.
This was a very awkward and embarrassing experience for me all together, i just don’t understand why i was treated...
Read moreToday I experienced the poorest of service at Freshchoice Parklands. I understand it's a tense time but a smile and manners can go a long way to avoid a negative situation. My wife and I were let in the store 1 at a time and after 15 minutes of shopping together were approached by a middle aged female staff member with short blond hair and glasses asking if we were from the same house hold. I said yes and she rudely told us that only one person can do the shopping. I mentioned that it would be helpful to communicate this to the gentleman guiding customers in the store. I then asked what I am now supposed to do seeming I am already there. She and another male staff member (who just chimed in) were accusing me of debating them and trying to be smart when all I wanted was some clear clarification. Everything I was saying was being shut down before i could finish my sentence. I then asked if they wanted me to leave as it appeared I was such a nuisance to which the man quickly said yes and she simultaneously said no. I assume they both walked off to get a supervisor or something. I told my wife to leave her basket and we left the store with many staff staring at us. I went to countdown and had no issues as usual. I used to come here as a kid and came back to bring some old memories but will never be back after this experience. I don't mind the policy. It just wasn't clear and thus further handled in an...
Read moreI had my backpack checked twice in one day at FreshChoice Parklands. FreshChoice Parklands seems to be suffering from a general lack of customer trust. They say they have a policy to check backpacks and say backpacks can be left at customer service but there was no sign to advise customers of this policy on entering the store. I thought because I didn't buy anything the first time (I only wanted an avocado to go with my picnic tin of salmon and wasn't prepared to pay $2.99) that was the reason they made a point of checking my bag. I decided to let it slide and, at end of the day, I entered the store to buy tomatoes for dinner and I thought, mistakenly, having checked me once, and found me trustworthy they would care about their clientele enough to use common sense. Not so. I was asked to open my bag a second time in the same public space (the checkout) by the same officious person, Christine. She found me honest again, although before she relented she suspected me for stealing the mushrooms I bought at Countdown, although on checking it was found FreshChoice didn't sell that brand. In the end I didn't buy the tomatoes and I won't shop there again. I prefer to go to New World Marshlands. They care about their customers wherever you are in New Zealand. Beware! FreshChoice Parklands care more about making policy points and making them publicly. FreshChoice customer...
