Fish Stop — Local services in Nelson

The Gurnard is very nice, I've had it a few times and always enjoyed it, and the portion sizes are usually decent, I almost always get a lot of chips. But that's where the positives end for me, I'm sad to say. I don't do many reviews as I don't like talking bad about people (or businesses) but i just had food from here again today, and I'm sorry to say but it was a terrible dining experience! The chips were, as usual, overcooked and burned. Even the decent portion size couldn't make up for it. My Gurnard tasted delicious as usual, but was WAY too overcooked, and the batter was so dark. I also got a Steak burger with an egg, which was disappointing. The steak was so small that my burger was more bun than sirloin, and they could've eased up on the mayo and tomato sauce. And the bun was SO oily it was off-putting. I apologize for such negative comments, but I was so disappointed I had to say something, literally the first thing that came to mind while eating this food was: "what happened to taking pride in the food you put out?". I ordered $35 worth of fish n chips for my family it came greasy as. The fish tasted and smelt alittle off, the mini hotdogs were not cooked in the middle (still frozen) the mussels and scallop was overcooked and greasy the chips were good tho overall the quality of the food was pretty bad for fish n chips I don't expect a 5 star meal but I don't expect my family to get sick and vomit either. My 8year old son started throwing up half hour later my hubby and I have started to get a sore tummy 1hr later after eating this. This is the only thing thing we ate that we don't usually eat from we wanted to try a new fish n chip shop and this is what happens everyone has sore tummy. WE WILL NOT BE BUYING FROM FISH STOP EVER AGAIN 🤢 and I hope none else buys from there after reading other reviews on here it sounds like the place is either dirty or does not store their food properly at a high food grade standard. Please sort this out if you are going to continue to serve food...

Ordered a seafood platter and some Oysters yesterday around 4pm. Come 6 pm I was power chucking in toilet. Wasn't food poisoning because I've had that before and I know it wasn't that bad. But Something in my meal was not fresh and past it's used by date and upset my stomach. After throwing up I was fine. Got it out of my system. Not sure if it was the oysters or something else but. It was nasty. The meal itself tasted ok. But definitely not quality and I'm sure normally they are fine. But this time they served me...
