I paid $28,000 to study horticulture here as an international student. The course was so disorganized that I asked the school for a refund and to revoke my visa. They provided unreasonable options, saying that I could only receive a partial refund or start a course that they originally told me was off limits for international students. I lost everything because of this school. I left the course and the country and they still refused to refund. This place is dangerous for international students. I lost every single cent and didn't even receive the certification. NMIT is not an honest or organized institution and international students need to protect themselves. This is a warning for other curious international students.
Now NMIT is saying they would like to resolve the issue. I have not seen any form of communication where they have tried to reach out privately. There is no evidence to support that claim. These people took all of my savings, provided abysmal quality of service, and I had to pay 28x the rate of domestic students for this. Where is my money? We both know that an institution should have systems to ensure that international students aren't treated this way, especially with outside circumstances. This place took all of my savings and I got 0 value. Please go to a real institution if you are in international student. It's not worth losing everything, even though Nelson is one of the best places to live! I had no idea it was possible to get scammed in New Zealand, but I wanted to share my story so that others...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGiving 2 stars is generous. I already had a degree before studying here, so i have some reference to higher education. My name was misspelled and it took 18 months to get it corrected, the course was average at best with a range of good, to grossly narcissistic (Iām looking at you David Brent!), to down right incompetent tutors. It is really ran as an cash cow for internationals (NMIT code for Chinese). At the start of one of my ābetterā modules, the tutor looked around the room and said, āgreat no internationals, i can pitch the content a bit higher ā. On reflection, that was highly racist, but at best, it is an appalling way to set and standard of delivery. That was genuinely one of the better tutors. I chose to stay in Nelson as it was my home at the time, but it was a huge compromise to take a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStudied there in 2017-2018.NMIT is not so bad. GOOD CAMPUS. Pros 1.Some tutors are really helpful like leouw who really knows his subject. 2.Other office staffs are also really helpful Good library 4.Nice cubicles for study. 5.Flexible class timing 6.Most of the tutors were really understandable and helpful.
Cons 1.Lower chance of getting a job. Almost 95 percentage of my friends who passed from there didn't got any good jobs
2.Some tutors don't know much about their subject. There was one tutor named Elliot masters, who is really good at his subject but extremely rude to students.
Overall my experience was good. But as an international student our prior importance is to get a job and if u study there its hard to find a good one.
So please study in any good universities ...
