I was tempted to give it the old 1-Star to discourage people, but the truth is this place is amazing!! We had a great time, excellent for families. Stayed 4 days but 7 would have been better. Recommended indeed! So what can I tell you about it? The camp site has excellent facilities and very flat well marked out spacious rent sites. You get an electronic card that gives you gate access and hot showers (5 min each time you swipe your card - great showers by the way!) The kitchen has heaps of space and many sinks for convenient and efficient washing up. There's a TV and games room with lots of space, big screen TV. There's a quiet room for charging phones. Locality couldn't be better as there is the calm estuary on two sides of the camp ground with nice beaches for sun bathing and kids sand castles, and is very safe for swimming. A footbridge goes straight into the town centre, 5 minutes walk at most. Large playing field right next to the camp ground. The surf beach is a twenty minute walk around the beach front, or a ten minute drive. Awesome surf beach with a huge amount of flat sand space. Somewhat famous for a long left-hand pipe? to surfers.

A great place is worth touring .

Looking at their web site and downloading their site plan we chose plot 179 as a powered Beach and Harbour fronting site. When we got there this we fou d all Beach & Harbour front plots were completely screened off by 20 foot trees and access to the beach was via Individual footpaths. No harbour there at all. Wireless free internet. Showers with 5 minute use via card given at reception. 8 minute walk over a footbridge over estuary to a small but interesting village with cafes, shops and activities. I have never ever seen over the 3 days we stayed with the main Mens toilets in such disgusting soiled W.Cs. from people's use in my life. What on earth must they be eating. It was sickening.. There were other smaller sectioned toilets all in a clean state. 29th January 2024. All payments are now by credit card. No cash. Showers only last 2 or 4 minutes.

I'm sure there are some positive things about this holiday park, but it has been the worst experience of our entire time at any holiday park in New Zealand. bad on me for not reading all the details about how they don't have the very things you need to cook. I stopped reading when I read they have kitchens "fully equipped for all of your dining needs". I didn't notice that they actually don't provide a single plat, cup, pan cutting boar, knife, etc. Not only did I not notice it, but the lady at the front desk who checed us in was not very helpful in that she did not bother to tell me that none of those things were available unless you rented them. she told me where the grocery store was. she knew I was going to buy groceries. I bought 85 dollars worth of groceries to have a nice meal fir my son's birthday... only to return after eight o'clock and find out there was no way I could cook my groceries. I knocked on the door near the reception desk where the lights were on but nobody was willing to talk about me. I then called the only number of available, but it goes to after hours security. that guy was rude with me and hung up on me twice. to his credit, he finally did bring me a box of things to cook with and was friendly the next morning.

the lady checking me out the next day was quite rude because she was offended that I had told the security guy how shocked I was that there was absolutely nothing to cook with. I told her she could be prideful and offended or she could ask me why I thought her holiday park was the worst we had been to. I wasn't trying to have a fight with her. I was happy to share with her some feedback that could help make her Park better. the only other thing I will say is that the water in the Kitchens is scalding hot. both i and my wife burned our hands. be very careful or just don't use it at all. The tap water in the sink can be cool to warm and then all of a sudden change to...

Would not recommend. Have been to this holiday park multiple times now and has progressively gotten worse. Our first stay was great with a powered site we loved. When checking out we asked about getting this site the next year for the same weekend and did exactly that. We came back prior to that stay, and confirmed, in person, we had that site to be told yes we did. When we arrived for that stay we did not have that site and were put on to a site that smelled terrible. We managed to talk to security and be moved to a new site where we stayed for the remainder of our stay but were still annoyed we didn’t get the site we asked for despite booking it as soon as the books opened and being told we had it. Next, we had a big group booking which we confirmed 3 times in person, while walking around the park confirming the length of each stay on each site/cabin. This booking somehow still got messed up by the office staff who were terribly unfriendly and unsympathetic when we spoke to them about our issues. Firstly, they checked the wrong people into the wrong cabins (checked people staying for 4 nights into the 2 night cabin, and the people staying 2 nights into a 4 night cabin). When asked if they could simply swap the bookings so they didn’t have to move cabins, the office ladies rudely refused. The 2 night cabin also had an awful smell, which they were also very unsympathetic about. The next issue was having a site booked for 3 nights instead of 4, however upon check in they confirmed “a 4 night stay for that site?” Which was correct, only to get a text after 3 nights saying we were supposed to have been checked out. Again, they were unfriendly and unsympathetic with this issue and could not compromise with us, and we still had to pay for their mistake. The toilets have also been messy and without toilet paper multiple times during our stay. Very unimpressed overall and will not be...

My friends and I had the best time here last week for a 5 night stay! We booked a non powered camp site to save some money, and found you honestly wouldn't need a powered one with all of the amenities available. There was free wifi available at all times and plenty of power outlets in the buildings to charge phones or camping gadgets. Everything was well kept and cleaned daily. The kitchen block near us was spacious with enough burners to have around 6 groups cooking at once and enough sinks to match; plus, there are 3 large communal fridges to use as well. The tokens for a washing machine or dryer were only $3 each , and the sizes were comparable to an average laundromat machine! There were 5 toilets in our block and never a toilet paper outage (as many campsites can have). The showers were on a timer of 5 minutes with a 2 minute delay to re-use (I will say there were some stalls with almost no water pressure, maybe needs some adjusting- and the machine beeps at you alot during the timing process which is a bit annoying, but thats probably my only 2 complaints for the trip). They have a family-friendly movie on a big outdoor projector screen each night for everyone to enjoy. It's a fully gated campground with 24/7 onsite security you can call- and the gates are locked overnight at 10 pm for extra safety. Honestly, I'm super pleased with our experience - we are already planning when we can...
