I ordered chocolate cake (150 pre-cut pieces) for an event. Reached home directly from the shop (30 mins drive) and checked the cake and was absolutely disappointed. The cake was so dry and easily one of the worst I’ve had in recent times! We were in a dilemma to serve it to 125 guests. But we had no choice last minute, we served it to our guests only to find out there were egg shells in the cake. When I called back and provided feedback, the person at the shop kept stating that the cake was moist when she cut into pieces before my pickup time. Just to prove my point, I went back to the store with a box of leftover cake (with few pieces of egg shell on it). No apologies, no acceptance, no comments on the egg shell. But did refund 50% of my bill when I returned one box of cake out of the 4 we bought. I do understand mistakes happen, but own it, correct it and do better next time for a better customer service. My order may be one of many orders and not be significant for you but it was a very important event and memory for us as we celebrate a special day in the family! You know that cake from the movie “Matilda”, this is what the chocolate cakes from here remind me of TBH. Used to really love cakes from here, but the care towards icing and writing the words one pays extra to add is very much missing now. Very sad as this place has always been my go to.
