Cheese on Toast Mt Eden — Restaurant in Puketāpapa

What a disappointment 😞 maybe my expectations were to high but I left feeling ripped off and unsatisfied. I got the xmas special which is advertised as ham off the bone, pineapple and some type of jam. Well I think I just got the jam because there was NO chunks of ham off the bone and no pieces of pineapple?? False advertising is what I think it is. What I did get was some type of jam and I managed to find little bits of meat inside the jam, maybe alittle sweetness of pineapple in the jam but no chunks of pineapple? The only thing that could have saved it was a decent amount of cheese but that wasn't the case, minimal cheese for a $16 cheese toasty.

They managed to ruin a classic ham, cheese and pineapple toasty and slapped a hefty price tag on it.

Wish I could have got my money back and ate elsewhere 😪

The reason I didn't question the food quality was down to your poor customer service to me specifically. You ask if I was eating in or takeout and I said eating in. I took a seat next to a couple who you served, you came out and served the guy behind me on the street but when my order came up you yelled "special" like you didnt know who i was all of a sudden? It was not busy during that time. So I got up and grabbed the food off you from the counter which clearly had special written on it and sat back down to eat wondering why you couldn't serve me like you served the others around me? Wholesome and yummy lil toaster place for the locals and a lil park next door to sit in the sun and chomp on some lightly greased crunchy toasttttiiiesss. Great selection of house made soda it defs hits diff, refreshing and packs a punch, slicing inbetween the bites of juicy toastie. We got the pineapple soda, latte which was well made, both good drinks of quality. Toasties that caught our eye undoubtedly pork belly and rump steak-hearty enough filling, salad, sauce and crunch from the toast. Street food vibe and this place has developed a cult following and deservedly so. Awesome toasties, ultimate comfort food. A true artisan take on a simple item, pretty much everything made in house including sour dough bread which you can also buy in half or whole loaf to take home. House made pink pickles are a great side that come with every toastie and are a delight on their own. My fav is caramelized bacon jam and cheese but they have regular blackboard specials.
