Ruru Bakery — Restaurant in Albert-Eden

The man working here was very lovely and provided great service, sadly this is the only good thing I have to say. The lights are all off in the middle of the day, which gives the whole place a 'we are closed' vibe. Its warmer in the building than outside on a hot and humid day which isn't very comfortable. The prices seem pretty out of touch considering Wild Wheat is a couple minutes down the road, and sadly the chicken and mushroom filo I had was really chalky, had a really strange aftertaste, and overall came across as being made very cheaply.

I'm really sorry to leave such a harsh review, if you are going to compete with the other local bakery I really suggest you go check them out first and see what they do differently. Was just in to grab a small bite and ordered a pretzel and a chai latte. The pretzel was good, had some apricot filling in it that wasn’t aware of when i ordered the cream cheese pretzel but overall pretty good. The chai latte is what really disappointed me. I spent $5 on it and the worker didn’t even know how to make it properly. (Being a price sensitive student this hurt the bank acc). He started to grind the coffee beans but came to a conclusion that it wasn’t right. I ended up with some warm milk and a pump of vanilla. Definitely not a chai latte very disappointed. Adding to a previous review, they mentioned the dark environment , would recommend keeping the lights on to prevent the gloomy atmosphere, making us further assuming it was closed. There is a wide range of UNIQUE baked foods here. If you want bulk standard bakery food, then go somewhere else.

Ask questions of the foods so you know what you are getting. The pictured Pistachio Bread was so yum, full of flavour and chewy. The bread was like a german pretzel texture. Owner told us to air-fry it and we did that after a few bites and both were great.

The pie was full of flaky buttery pastry.

Other reviews have said it before, it's too dark in there and prices do need to be shown.
