Thank you Rakiura, Ulrike and Mansfred for an incredible 2 nights on board the Wairangi. The trip far exceeded our expectations, mainly due to your superb hosting. Nothing seemed too difficult for you as you went out of your way to make things flow seamlessly, and your enthusiasm was infectious.

So many extra touches, from the ease of serving relaxed but delicious food and drink which was perfect for our needs, spontaneous side trips to check out sea lions, Maori middens and even welcoming us to your awesome home. A solid helping of luxury alongside the sense of adventure we were after.

We'll be back, and will be highly recommending an adventure on the Wairangi to others

Thanks again Nick, Sam,...

Over 20 years ago with Lew at the helm, we motored out of Tutukaka, Northland on the MV Wairangi to go snorkelling around the Poor Knights, a great day out. This month, at the other end of the country, with Rakiura at the helm, we motored out of Paterson inlet, Stewart Island on the MV Wairangi to go bird watching towards Bench Island, then back around the inlet. Rakiura shared the recent history of the Wairangi and put us in great spots to see & photograph the birds. It was a most enjoyable couple of hours thanks to Rakiura & crew.

Thank you, Rakiura Adventures, for keeping this historic ship in use & in such...

We had wonderful adventures with Rakiura Adventures a few days ago. We first used the water taxi and were able to benefit from Skipper Rakiura's expertise and enthusiasm for his homeland. We spent the next morning in Dave's workshop carving our own wonderful greenstones. We then spent the evening on the Wairangi, a wonderful, 100-year-old boat that is in exceptionally good condition. Rakiura drove with us through the Paterson Inlet and we were able to benefit from his joy again. Heartfelt recommendation: There is certainly no better way to discover Stewart Island than with the...

Thank you to Rakiura for accommodating me last minute aboard the Wairangi. It truly was such a special experience staying overnight on this wonderful boat. Peaceful, private and just what I needed for some R&R. Great customer service and went out of his way to make my stay comfortable. Ulrike arranged a wonderful breakfast and we had some great conversation on the boat before she dropped me off to the airport check in. Can't wait to come back and stay for longer!

Overall good experience and friendly staff except the lady who sold us tickets being a bit cold. Politely asked her to recommend a few places for viewing kiwis/penguins and whether we can walk to the lighthouse by foot. She seemed to dodge our questions. Not sure why. Thought we would disturb kiwis/penguins? We never got too close. One very positive thing is asking questions online and getting friendly reply very soon.
