Place may be suitable for the adventurous, party-loving, carefree crowd who doesn't mind surprise accommodation guidelines. The place is pet-friendly so this is a plus for us 👍👍👍. The owner is friendly and staff were helpful and courteous.
Internet connection and telco signal is not strong in the area so plan ahead of time for reservation so your questions are suitably answered before heading to your vacation. Be sure you have an offline map and contact number of the person supposed to pick you up since Globe telco call and signal won't work and Smart signal would be dismal.
Expect to pay P20/head to Brgy Calayo for environmental fee and another P150 for paid public parking at your own risk.
Barakuda Resort is a good 10-minute walk from parking so they will send a pick-up service at the parking area to meet guests.
We were asked to pay a reservation fee of P2000 to secure our booking. Check-in for overnight guests is strictly at 2pm. Settling of all fees requested hours before check-out time of 12 noon.
Our chosen Kubo (Kubo 2) was advertised in their online materials to be good for 4-6 persons but sleeping with sufficient inclusive beddings is good for only 3 persons. Room fee for Kubo 2 is at P5000 at the time of booking.
Kubo accommodation fee do not have free access to kitchen equipment. You will have to pay P500 to use their shared kitchen, and pay additional fee if cooking through your own rice cooker at your Kubo (not recommended to use portable cooking equipment since electricals were not sufficiently loaded to operate heating equipment). Shared toilets available, some were clean, others could still be made cleaner and improved with working flush, bidet and inclusion of sink for morning washing up or brushing teeth.
Our Kubo was at the back towards the lake. Unfortunately, this is right in front of the communal grilling area and we had to ask if those grilling could kindly fan the smoke away towards the lake since the smoke was unbearably filling inside our hut. If going for Kubo accommodation, request one quite far from the grilling area.
Small store available for snacks, quick meals, and drinks. They even have milktea kiosk by the beach.
If your idea of relaxation was to get some peace and quiet, go on a weekday as it gets very busy and bustling with party vibe on a weekend.
Not for corporate events but more for family and friends outing since official receipts...
Read moreWe stayed here from May 10 to May 11 for an overnight visit, booking "La Terraza" at a rate of 12,000 per night.
Initially, our stay was pleasant; however, an incident occurred when my sister experienced an electric shock from the refrigerator, which we found to be quite concerning. Unfortunately, there was a lack of immediate acknowledgment from the staff, which heightened our stress during the situation. As a precaution, my sister sought medical attention at a nearby hospital - we insisted on this one. No proper handling of emergencies. No consideration and a lack of sympathy.
A staff member even approached us with a comment regarding the refrigerator, attempting to downplay the severity of the situation, which added to our frustration. “Basa po ba yung nakuryente? Halika ma’am sama ka, lamasin ko yung ref” the staff said while smiling. Tsk.
We believe that prompt communication and support in such circumstances could greatly improve guest experiences.
Will NEVER go back. Sayang lang kasi maganda yung location err. Negative...

Hopefully soon I will be able to bring my daughter and wife to Barakuda Beach Resort so they will experience what I have experiencd during my stay here. The beach is great!
