This review is specifically about the security guards on the ground floor, one of whom made blatantly racist remarks toward us. He kept speaking in a way we couldn’t understand and then directly asked, “Are you Chinese?” — a clearly discriminatory and offensive question.

I had an extremely disturbing and unacceptable experience outside this mall.

After having dinner with a friend, we were standing near the pick-up area waiting for our Uber. Suddenly, one of the guards approached us and repeatedly asked, “Are you Chinese?” — not once, but multiple times. I felt deeply uncomfortable and offended. I am not Chinese, but even if I were, why does that matter?

I didn’t respond because the question itself felt inappropriate and racially charged. However, instead of leaving, the guard brought over two more security guards. All three of them stood around us, staring, laughing, and continuing to ask where we were from, treating us like a joke.

It felt humiliating and threatening.

My friend, visibly angry, asked one of them where he was from — and he said “Kenya.” But this isn’t about anyone’s nationality. It’s about respect and dignity.

This was racial harassment. We weren’t doing anything wrong. We were just standing there, and we were targeted solely because of how we looked.

No one — Chinese, Filipino, Korean, or from any other country — deserves to be mocked or questioned in this way. This was completely inappropriate and discriminatory behavior from people who are supposed to ensure safety.

Mall management needs to take this seriously. Retrain your security staff. Enforce zero tolerance for racism. Make this a place where everyone — no matter where they’re from — can feel safe...
