I am still reeling from the utterly appalling experience I had the misfortune of enduring at the Foodlovers Ferndale store. The sheer incompetence and blatant disregard for basic customer service and hygiene protocols were nothing short of staggering.
Upon entering the store, it was painfully evident that the staff were not only unhappy but also woefully untrained to interact with customers. The absolute pièce de résistance was witnessing staff members nonchalantly munching on donuts from the display trays - a heinous breach of industry standards and common decency. This unprofessional behavior was perpetrated in full view of customers, leaving me aghast.
When I attempted to seek assistance from the staff, I was met with a wall of indifference and incompetence. My queries were ignored, and my requests for help were dismissed with a palpable lack of interest.
To add insult to injury, the pricing on the shelves was either nonexistent or grossly inaccurate, rendering it impossible for customers to make informed purchasing decisions. The staff's inability to provide accurate pricing information only served to exacerbate the problem.
In conclusion, my experience at Foodlovers Ferndale was an unmitigated disaster. Read moreThis past weekend my partner experienced racism at its peak from this Food Lovers Market, Firstly we shop at this food lovers weekly and to receive the kind of treatment he experienced is pathetic. One of the cashiers charged him incorrectly for an item we did not purchase upon reviewing the receipt I identified the mistake and asked him to go back into the store, he was then assisted by a racist woman and manager who told him they need to check cctv footage even with the facts presented to them, the cashier who assisted him then told the manager that she made a mistake and she did charge him for an item he did not receive but the manager insisted on checking cctv footage based on his appearance and the colour of his skin even after the cashier admitted to being at fault! My partner proceeded to leave all the items he bought and asked for his money back, a few minutes after leaving the store another manager by the name of Hennie calls and decides to blame the cashier for the problem instead of being accountable as a manager and admitting to the mistreatment and racist behaviour displayed.

I was in the store for more than an hour plus, shopping and I brought 6 chicken trays priced R0.00 each. I got to the till and the cashier went to call a black lady manager to assist and she advised that she will charge it as is. In a few min came another white/colored manager (lady) she was so rude she was shaking, as she told me that the bar code on the chicken trays was not the stores code. I advised that I'm only a customer what I see displayed is what I buy it for... All other customers where now looking at us and I had a trolley full of groceries.
At the point my bill was already R890.00 plus and this was half my trolley.
Because of poor customer service from this lady I left everything I had spent 1h plus shopping for. She did not apologize and she gave my daughter and I such an ugly look, other customers looked at us and that moment of ridicule and shame.
She lied saying she called the supplier to inform them, but it was hardly 3min from the time they called her.
