Panarottis Ferndale — Restaurant in Gauteng

Having visited Panarottis in Ferndale on two occasions, for both a dine-in experience and a quick pick-up, I've found it to be a place with a clear mix of pros and cons. While some elements are a great draw for families, others could certainly use some improvement.

My first visit was a dine-in experience with the kids, and I have to say, the highlight was the kids' pizza-making activity. It's a brilliant concept that keeps little ones entertained and engaged. They loved being able to play with the dough and create their own mini pizzas. It's a fantastic, family-friendly touch that makes for a fun and memorable outing. However, the dine-in experience was not without its challenges. The wait time for our food was quite long, to the point of being absurd. It felt like an excessive wait, especially with hungry children. In addition, the drinks were a bit of a shock, with what felt like an overly-priced menu for beverages. These factors certainly detracted from what was otherwise a pleasant atmosphere.

My second visit was a pick-up order, which offered a different perspective. The convenience of the call-and-collect service is a definite plus. However, the service at the front counter was a bit confusing. The lady assisting me seemed unsure and wasn't very helpful, making the process less seamless than it could have been. Thankfully, the food itself was okay, and the overall convenience of the service made it a viable option for a quick dinner.

In conclusion, Panarottis Ferndale is a great spot for a family outing, and the kids' activities are a huge selling point. However, be prepared for a potentially long wait for your food and perhaps a bit of confusion with the take-away service. If you're looking for a fun experience for the little ones and are willing to be patient, it's a worthwhile visit.

Its just unfortunate that this shop in particular does not represent Panarottis brand. I moved to Ferndale from Risidale maybe a year and a half ago and had to stop going to my usual spot in Cresta because the Ferndale one was closer. First time I went, the service was horrible and the pay machine weren't working, had to wait forever to pay my bill but I gave it a pass, I assumed that maybe it was just a bad day. Yesterday I took my son after his soccer practice and I must say this place racially profiles people and based on that service is rendered. We waited 15 -20 min for the waiter to take our order. I was very patient and understanding, my son and I decided to play Chess while we wait for our order. Let's just says we waited over an hour to get our food and when we decided to leave that when we were stopped and asked by the manager to not leave and that he will sort out the matter. This a disheartening! Not only do I always tip when I'm out dinning but it's always more the than the 10% of my bill. That can even be verified as I have a rewards account with them. That fact that in 2024 as a black person, you are judged by your appearance as to whether you deserve good serve of not, is just disgusting and sad! Watching everyone next to me enjoy thier meals with thier families and leave,and seeing other people coming in getting great service and eat while my son and I just stare and remaining calm was quite sad. On 28 September, my family and friends went to Panarottis Ferndale (Republic Road) for dinner.

Our evening started off well, but the service quickly became disappointing. It took a very long time to receive both our drinks and our meals, which set a negative tone.

Later, the atmosphere in the restaurant became extremely unpleasant. A nearby group was so loud that we could not hear each other, and when we raised this with the manager, nothing meaningful was done.

The bathroom situation was also unacceptable – my wife had to shield our 8-year-old daughter because another person( male ) was using the facilities with the door wide open. This should never happen in a family restaurant.

The worst part was when things escalated with the noisy group, who insulted us and even threatened my wife outside. At no point did Panarottis management step in to de-escalate or ensure our safety. Only someone from Spur eventually tried to assist, but by then the damage was done.

To end it all, we were given our meals cold in takeaway containers. We had to reheat everything at home, which completely ruined what was meant to be a special evening with family and friends.
