I really had a horrible experience at Edgars Beauty the other day. I was too irate to write about it then. I’d taken perfume on lay-away, but later decided against it and sought to cancel the agreement for a refund. I was told that I wouldn’t get a cash refund, but I didn’t want a gift card, either. I was told there was no cash available at the till and that I would have to wait for a cash-paying customer to make all of R300 available. I was not inclined to wait in the mall indefinitely so I asked to speak with management. Arrogant management and call centre agent told me I now needed an affidavit in order to get a refund whether in the form of cash or a gift card. When I pointed out that such was not required in terms of the Edgars lay-away policy or inserted in the cancellation clause, they beat about the bush and had me standing in that shop, feeling completely humiliated. After investigating their lay-away policy and pointing out that there was no reason to belittle me simply because I decided I no longer wanted their product, I eventually got my refund, but the PR damage had been done. I cannot believe that Black females are still discriminated against for absolutely no reason. What a disgusting image of Edgars Beauty set by...

Disappointed to see Shopping centre almost deserted by 19h00 on a Friday Night. Exclusive Books were closed, Seattle was closed and most of Shopping Centre. Why are there NO NOTIFICATIONS AT ENTRANCES SO CUSTOMERS DON'T HAVE TO BOTHER PAYING PARKING AND LEAVE IMMEDIATELY. BAD MANAGEMENT. Hyde Park Corner Shopping Centre is a lovely small upmarket high-end shopping centre on the corners of William Nicol and Jan Smuts Avenue. Highlights include a fantastic Exclusive Books with a Seattle Coffee Company inside and stylish restaurant. Just check hours of Seattle as you will be disappointed often being closed. Anchor tenants include PnP and Woolworths. There is a Southern Sun Hotel adjacent to the shopping center. You will find various exclusive boutique shops and is a delight for the discerning shopper. The shopping centre have frequent interesting displays like the current car and coffee display. A problem area is parking as it gets very congested when busy. There is no foodcourt, but have few...
Read moreThis is a shopping centre for the wealthier people of the world. Whilst there are a few familiar stores such as Typo, one wouldn't find a clothing store for the general market such as H&M or Mr. Price for example. The same can be said for the restaurants in the centre - these are places for those looking for either a fine-dining experience or niche eating. That's neither a good nor bad point but you won't find food stops that general society would go to here. Most of these places require some form of dressing up. If you're looking for a Burger-King type of meal you won't find it here.
Parking is limited so ensure you get on your travels early to avoid any frustration.
The overall view of this centre is clean and fresh, well lit and decorated. There are escalators as well as lifts available for those with who need accessibility assistance and the bathrooms have these features too.
Nice place for people looking to shop high class, or maybe those with cash to throw around but overall not really the kind of place I'd hang out at for more...
