Virgin Active Glen Marais is a scam. I was interested in signing for membership with them in July. A lady who works there by the name of Noxolo walked me through the process of joining and getting a five day free trial before officially becoming a member. She even went to the lengths of coming to my home. She clearly stated upon signing the form, I am eligible to use the gym for 5 days to see whether I'd like to become part of their family. I also wanted my baby cousin to join, Noxolo and I have communicated this. On the 5th day, it was a Saturday morning when I went to the gym with my cousin as per our agreement with Noxolo. Anyway she also came with me during the week in this period of what they call the Free trial. So on Saturday morning when we were at the reception, another employee of the gym told us off. Even after I explained that we're still in the 5 day free trial and she can call Noxolo because she was off duty. She treated us very badly and didn't have a care to understand before telling us we're not allowed to go in. Eventually we left, and while we were outside I took it upon myself to call Noxolo (the lady I signed up with) and told her that her colleagues are rude. They have treated us badly so I am not interested in joining anymore she can cancel our agreement. She was not at work like I've mentioned but she assured that she'll take care of it as soon as she's there. I left thinking that I'm done with Virgin active, they will never see me. Come month end September I see they debited my account. I obviously reversed it. Now I'm getting phone calls asking what happened. I've explained to atleast 3 consultants at the head office but they also debited my account on Month end October. I reversed that too. When I call this Noxolo lady she tells me that she told me to cancel by writing a letter 20 days before debit day. She is lying. I could've done that I mean is she trying to insult my intelligence? Yesterday I received a phone call from head office telling me about a cancellation fee of R100 and something as well as a penalty of R3000. I mean I literally used that gym for 3 days and now they are telling me about an amount over R3000? I am not willing to pay such an amount because I can't to afford to....

Iâve lived and grew up in Kempton park and honestly Glen Acres Virgin Active sucks. The equipment has been the same for the past 12 year (for real)The equipment is bulky, uneven (probably because itâs worn out), does not run smoothly so it can cause some serious injuries. The bathrooms are old and unwelcoming. The fact that there is such a huge difference between youâre standard Virgin Active and this one is disgraceful. The dumbbells need upgrading and smith-machines,legpress, leg extension and hamstring curl machines are so outdated. Whereâs the Technogym equipment? Even the water-fountains are old compared to the handsfree ones at Waterfall and Kayalami. You can also tell by staff morale that this gym sucks. The staff anywhere in midrand/randburg/centurion/fourways locations are so friendly and helpful. Youâre a partner of Discovery, but thereâs no NĂź or Kauai in Kempton Park?
Common guys? Whatâs the message youâre conveying? Higher privileged areas get better stuff? Everyone deserves the same standard of service and facilities.

   Read moreIm writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the personnel training service i received from a trainer at Glen Acres. Despite paying for their service, i was let down by their unprofessional behavior and lack of commitment.
I had assigned up for personnel training sessions with a trainer guy to help me achieve my fitness goals, However after just two days of training, he informed me that he had another clients until 18:00 on the third day and he will call me once his client canceled session, he never call me back as paying client myself, i was shocked and disappointed by this revelation.
I had expected a higher level of dedication and commitment from my personnel trainer, especially since i was paying for their service. It is unacceptable that they would prioritize another clients over me, especially without any prio notice or apology, i also request a refund from my personnel training services.
I would like to transfer my membership to another Virgin Active location where i can receive the level of service and...
