We are huge Hussar fans and have been to Hussar Grill’s around the country…but this place is terrible. Of about 5 times we have been there, we have had to send our food back 3 times. Why? Because the meat was not made as we asked - which is rare.

Last night we requested rare, with no basting. They gave us steaks that looked like minute steaks (very thin), the fat was not rendered, the steak was pale, AND there was absolutely no seasoning on the meat.

We asked the waiter to please see the manager - the waiter then gave us attitude, talked to us like we were stupid, and was generally just very rude. We calmly talked to the manager, who gave us the same attitude as the waiter (talking down to us) and he then said the seasoning is in the basting…and when one does not want basting you must ask for salt and pepper on your meat. People - you have to, in a RESTAURANT, ask for seasoning on your food - because basting is apparently the only seasoning available? And the excuse for the minute steaks was you have to ask for a first grade cut…yes, at a GRILL-HOUSE, you have to ASK for a first grade cut?!?!?! Our food ranged between R175 to R250…and we could have made better at home.

We told the manager that we come to a restaurant expecting food to be better than what one can make at home. And with Hussar Grill in Somerset West - this is not the case unfortunately. We are very disappointed and will...

I prefer not to post negative reviews unnecessarily. The service was excellent. The ambience is good. Hussar's is not a quiet restaurant so expect some noise. My food tonight was awful. I ordered Lamb Shank in red wine jus. It was smothered in a sweet sauce that did not even resemble a jus (and I know what I am talking about). The shank was totally burnt at the bottom and there was a spice on it that made it inedible for a non spice eater like myself. It did not even taste like lamb. The mashed potato was lumpy. For the first time in as long as I can remember, I sent food back. My waitress was most apologetic. Nothing from the manager. I then ordered a medium steak with garlic sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly but was SMOTHERED in a sweet barbecue sauce which negated any other sauce. The garlic sauce was a glutinous jelly sauce with bottled herbs and very little garlic. My side salad was drenched in a sweet, spicy sauce that made it inedible. By this time, I just needed to eat and get out. I love Hussars as a rule, but this visit was a disaster. This branch of Hussars needs to Jack up it's kitchen and the chef needs to get his/her (or whatever preferred pronoun) act together. Very disappointing and I would recommend you rather go to Spur in the centre. My server was great and very apologetic....

Indulging in an extraordinary culinary journey at Hussar Grill Waterstone Village was an unparalleled experience. From the moment we were seated, we were greeted with an exquisite gift of delectable olives and crispy potato delights, a prelude to the epicurean voyage that awaited.

Our main courses transcended the ordinary, delivering an otherworldly sensation. The meat, prepared to perfection, exuded succulence and an exquisite depth of flavor, all accompanied by impeccable service that matched the exceptional quality of the cuisine. We must express our profound appreciation for our esteemed service ambassador, the consummate professional, Sonja.

The attentive and hospitable management team added to the overall sense of warmth and care that defined our visit. In addition, the restaurant's ambiance, with its elegant and inviting decor, contributed to the overall sense of indulgence and relaxation. To conclude our remarkable evening, we were graced with a complimentary dessert, a vodka-infused dark chocolate creation that defied expectations, rendering it an epicurean delight of the highest order. Simply put, it was a memorable, delectable journey like no other, enveloped in an ambiance of sophistication...
