Not sure what has been going on with Indigo Spur lately, but service is really going downhill.
Just last month I had a quality issue, and on Monday I ordered takeaways from them. I called in my order to avoid standing and waiting for the order to be ready. The person that took my order was Jean-Pierre. Straight forward order of 3 burgers on the Monday Special.
Jean-Pierre confirmed it will take 20 minutes. I stay about 15 minutes drive from the Spur, so I waited and only arrived 30 minutes after my call, to allow time for them to complete the order. Once arrived, I spoke with Jean-Pierre who checked and said the order is still busy and said there is a slight delay.
I waited inside the restaurant for about 10 minutes, and decided to take a walk inside Waterstone for another 10 minutes to past time. Didn't have any other reason to come to the shopping mall, expect to collect my food, so I was basically wasting time waiting.
I returned back inside the restaurant and started asking multiple staff about my order. They brought me an order, but it was incorrect and belonged to another customer. After another 10 minutes, which equates to an hour since my call to the restaurant, my order was ready. There was only 2 burgers, so someone had to run to the kitchen to get the 3rd burger. Then we saw there is no mushroom sauce, someone had to run to the kitchen a third time.
Then noticed only 1 burger was rung up as a Monday burger special, for some reason the other 2 was rung up full price. Jean-Pierre seemed a bit confused and I even showed him on the website that Soya and Rib burger is on the special for a Monday evening. This took another 5 minutes but was charged correctly in the end.
Really not sure what is happening to this restaurant, there are constantly mistakes with take away orders, and from other reviews I read, many seem to have the same problem.
In addition to myself, there was another customer who had been waiting at the front desk for the same one-hour duration, which I found to be incredibly absurd.
Rather than causing frustration, it would be more helpful to inform customers not to place any take-away orders if the team is incapable of handling them efficiently.
Please consider carefully before placing takeout orders...
Read more*EDIT to include feedback: Manager called to apologise for the experience, I must say, their customer service is pretty good. I might make a trip back to see if the processes they promise to put in place, makes a difference. Thanks JP and Gert. We don't normally come all the way to Somerset West (we live in Blouberg), but we were in the area so we decided to treat our 4 year old to lunch at Spur. Getting seated was pretty quick, seems like the service was pretty good around that. Took our orders, didn't have the strawberry daiquiri as advertised, so we took 2 gin cocktails. The cocktails were tasteless (and tasted like each other even though they were supposed to be different flavours). Ordered buffalo wings as a starter and a cheddarmelt burger and a steak. the wings were tough and unusually large for buffalo wings. Also a lot of weird bones. Cheddarmelt burger was ok, a lot of burnt chips (and the main one) The steak. My husband took a couple of bites and immediately felt nauseous. He couldnt stomach it. I smelt it and was immediately put off. It smelt like old, rotten meat. was SO disgusting. It put me off my food. Gave it to the waiter, who smelt it in the kitchen and came back to us and said that maybe it was an old steak (gross) and offered to give us another. We declined and just wanted it taken off the bill. The manager came by and was pretty nice about it, he offered my husband a drink on the house since we didnt want any more food. We asked instead if he could remove one of the gin cocktails from our order which couldn't be done so he said that he would get my husband a drink 'next time'.
He took down my hubbys details and said that he will follow up. All in all, nice open restaurant. Staff are quite friendly. Food...
Read moreOn Saturday, April 27th, I visited Spur Waterstone for the first time in a year. We decided to take my 92-year-old mother-in-law out for breakfast. However, we encountered some challenges with accessibility as she is in a wheelchair. We experienced a considerable wait before being seated, and initially, the staff attempted to place us at a small table before eventually finding a suitable one. Despite our wait, it took quite some time to receive menus, and only after we voiced our dissatisfaction did we receive one menu hastily thrown onto the table.
Furthermore, we observed a discrepancy in service, as other patrons, notably of Caucasian descent, were served promptly while we continued to wait for our breakfast menus. A concerning incident occurred when a manager left his office to confront a black customer, allegedly due to a complaint from another patron regarding a child damaging furniture. Despite the father's attempts to explain that his 2-year-old was not responsible, the manager showed a dismissive attitude and insisted on enforcing the policy without regard for the father's explanation. This interaction carried a distinctly racial undertone in the manager's demeanor.
In conclusion, my recent visit to Spur Waterstone was marred by issues of accessibility and discriminatory treatment. The challenges my family faced in being seated and served, coupled with the manager's handling of the situation involving a black customer, underscore the need for greater sensitivity and inclusivity in customer service practices. It is imperative that establishments prioritize accommodating all patrons equally, regardless of race or ability, to foster an environment of fairness and...
