Vive Picos de Europa - Ruta del Cares y rutas 4x4 Asturias — Local services in Cangas de Onís

Several months ago, I booked the excursion with a self-hike from Poncebos to Cain, then return from Cain to Poncebos by 4x4. When the center portion of Ruta de Cares closed due to rock slide danger, I contacted Vive Picos multiple times in the weeks and months before our excursion date to inquire about alternate trips or a refund of my deposit. This company totally ghosted me and I didn’t receive any response.

Finally, at 17:00 on the evening prior to our scheduled excursion, I was offered to a trip from Cangas de Onis to Cain to hike the southern portion of the Ruta de Cares. Having already done all of those things, I asked for a refund of my deposit instead, but once again received no response. Had Vive Picos contacted me sooner with this alternative itinerary, I could have adjusted my itinerary to make it work, but I was only notified of a major change at the last minute.

This business needs to learn that keeping deposits is only permissible when a customer cancels. In this instance, the business itself wasn’t able to provide the promised product or service that I originally purchased. I do feel badly for residents and tourism companies effected by the recent fires, but when businesses completely ignore your communication, it’s hard to be overly sympathetic.

We reserved this to make our way back to Poncebos, after finishing the ruta del Cares Poncebos - Cain. And what a great decision we made.

To begin with, the afternoon was very hot, so it would be a difficult journey back on foot. And the surprise of the tour going through places that we did not expect to see. It was an amazing trip.

Last, but not least...Miguel, our driver and guide, was amazing. Very funny and intelligent, that lives and breathes the Asturian culture. He told us great things not only about the mountains but also Asturian culture.

We even saw Rebecos (chamois in English) running...

What an amazing experience we had with Vive Picos!! We have done round trip Ruta del Cares 4X4. We were a family of 4, two adults and two children ( 12 and 15 years old) . Everything was so smooth , starting from the moment we spoke to Daniela to book our trip.She was extremely helpful and very kind.
