In early September 2024, I went to workshops in both latte art and espresso, both by teacher Edu!

I would highly recommend both those workshops!

For the latte art: I loved how it was set up; starting with interesting theory about everything you need and want to know about coffee. And then there is plenty of time for practice. It was very smart to start practicing with water for the latte art. I was also pleasantly surprised by how much practice it was!

For the espresso workshop I can say the same! Also starting with interesting theory about everything you need and want to know about coffee. And then there is plenty of time for practice! The workshop included everything from theory to how to clean the machine. All you need to know!

The learning methods are very varied and good; from drawing on the white board, even on the table (very helpful when there are many cups!), to using the screen. Edu, the teacher, is a very lovely, dedicated, knowledgeable and pedagogical, with the perfect balance in being importantly honest and also keeping the motivation and joy high! Absolutely loved my experience at Hola Coffee Academy in Madrid! I joined the cupping session with Edu and walked away with a whole new appreciation for coffee. Edu was not only incredibly knowledgeable but made everything—from origin and processing to flavor profiles—accessible and engaging. I was the only non-Spanish speaker there, but never once felt out of place. The whole experience was warm, welcoming, and seriously cool. Had my SCA Barista Foundation course with Javier and I felt liked I learned so much in just a day! You can really see how passionate Javier is in his field and how he is very interested in making his students get the most out of the subject matter of coffee.
