TLDR: While the food was great, the waitress wasn’t attentive.
I was told there are two things I was obligated to try in Basque Country: 1.) Steak and 2.) Cheesecake. I was introduced to this restaurant to have the best experience and overall, it held up to its local reputation.
The food was the best I had in San Sebastián. The steak was generously seasoned, perfectly cooked to medium rare, and the composition of the dish was interesting and fun to eat. The pickled red peppers (sour) , peppers of piquillo (spicy and savory), the chips (salty), and the steak (savory) tied together well. It was my first time trying a Basque Cheesecake and I can say with confidence that the texture was completely different than anything I’ve had in NY (known for our cheesecake). It’s light and airy, the top had a tiny bit of a chary taste. I didn’t like cheesecake but thanks to Miralles, I now love it.
Cost: Steak- 41€ Cheesecake - 6€
Hear me out. While the costs on first glance compare to those of mid range American, higher range Sevillan, and mid-to-higher San Sebastián restaurants it’s worth noting the steak and cheesecake were huge and both were expected to be shared. Extra plates were given automatically. The steak and the cheesecake fed 3 people comfortably. 47€ split 3 ways is about 16ish€. That’s an incredible price. Bring friends and the prices will be feasible. If you’re going alone, just be prepared to leave with a lot of leftovers and a lighter wallet.
Service: The restaurant was virtually empty. The waitress disappeared after our meal was served and I didn’t see her until my drink was empty and I had to wave her down. I had to wave her down again for dessert. Once she helped, she disappeared again and we finally just decided to pay and leave instead of ordering anything else. I did experience the same service in London but not anywhere else in Spain.
The service left a lot to be desired and if the service had been more attentive, this restaurant would have been the best one I had visited in Europe as a whole. I fully recommend this restaurant. The food is incredible. Maybe just manage your expectations about the service and be prepared to be persistent for what you need...

Read moreA very nice restaurant specialised in grilled meat and fish located in a residential area. We came with our family and two friends. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff was fast, helpful and friendly, especially to children. The food was excellent: our meat was grilled to perfection, the salads were fresh and all side dishes were delicious. We almost had to force ourselves to stop eating. If you are in or around San Sebastian, Asador Miralles is definitely...
