Although the hotel is a little removed from the centre of San Sebastián, it is a recent addition to the city and is excellently placed right upon a very regular bus route, which stops just outside the hotel. Two buses 19 and 45, run on a circular route to the centre of the city and a separate Night bus also serves the hotel. The hotel has its own car park which is free, and has excellent wifi, and a great restaurant although you will more than likely wat to sample the Pintxos of the old city, which are excellent. Breakfast at the hotel is also excellent and well worth the cost, with the provision of a cooked and continental breakfast which is an eat as much as you wish option, and the freshly squeezed orange juice is fantastic.. At reception we were treated very well, Cristina was the receptionist and her Basque colleague were excellent providing a service second to none. Their English is great and they are very helpful. The hotel can provide you with bus passes, maps and a full provision of information and advice. The room we had way an accessible room to allow for my powered wheelchair, the bedroom and bathroom was excellent, clean and welcome you with a welcome note, the cleaning staff are very polite and helpful, In the restaurant the waitresses were very friendly and the food is top quality, we enjoyed the pool and sun terrace on the roof, and although we did not utilities the gym it looked well provisioned. We loved the rainfall shower and wand in the bedroom, our room had a king size 6 foot bed and a sofa (which could transform into a very confortable bed). Lighting in the room was great, and the blinds on the windows were very good. The buses come every 12 minutes and it only takes ten minutes into the heart of the city. The buses are very accessible, clean and sustainable. The hotel is very sustainable. I would certainly stay here again and would wholeheartedly...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a peaceful place to stay away from the hustle and bustle, this location might just suit you — provided you’re comfortable with being quite far from anything of note. That said, it’s not entirely cut off; there’s a bus stop directly outside with services running roughly every 15 and 30 minutes, which does make getting around manageable. The setting is quiet and relaxing, with a pleasant bar on-site and a decent selection of tapas, which added a nice touch to the evenings. However, there were a few drawbacks during our stay. The television in the room didn’t work at all — unsure if it was just the batteries in the remote or a more serious issue, but we couldn’t get any power to it, which was a shame.Breakfast was tidy and kept us going, but it did become repetitive after a couple of days. The pastries in particular were a bit disappointing — rather dry and not the freshest.Overall, it’s a good spot if you value tranquillity and can cope with a bit of isolation. With reliable transport links it offers a relaxing base, albeit with room for improvement in a few areas. There is a confidence shop and a bar that does food about 10 mins walk away and playground for children mostly in neighbourhood of...
Read moreReview of Hotel Leonardo, San Sebastián (April 2025)
I stayed at Hotel Leonardo in San Sebastián for 7 days in April 2025 and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is located in a very quiet area, yet just minutes away from the city center and the charming old town, making it a perfect base for exploring the city.
One of the biggest conveniences was the bus stop right in front of the hotel, served by Bus 19 and Bus 45, running at regular intervals (15 and 30 minutes respectively). This made getting around the city incredibly easy.
The reception staff were exceptional—extremely helpful and always courteous. Their warm hospitality added a lot to the overall experience.
Breakfast was another highlight. For €15, the buffet-style spread was excellent and absolutely worth it. A great way to start the day.
Parking was also very convenient. Although the hotel offers paid parking, it was free during my stay—perhaps because it was off-season. There was also plenty of street parking available nearby.
The room itself was clean, bright, and spacious, with a modern ensuite bathroom and a generously sized shower box.
I definitely recommend Hotel Leonardo and would happily stay here again if I’m ever back in...
