This is THE market in Alanya. In the heart of the city center, a plethora of fresh fruits and vegetables and spices and cheeses and tomato and chili paste and what not. This is on Fridays. The surroundings of the main market square offer a huge choice of clothes, bed linens, shoes and other leather or cotton products. This is where you can feel the pulse of the city !
This area is currently being renovated by the city council. A large complex is being built. This will reintegrate the market and add a movie theater, a library and underground parking ! See my pictures for images of the construction progress.
Edit July 2023: the market is opening on July 7, 2023 in the basement. The parking spaces are drawn, the first oil stains have been placed and the first vendors have set up in the late afternoon of July 6, 2023. 389 stalls have been rented out. Especially after I found out that the very same brand of commerce was less than 10 minutes walk from my hotel...wasted time and effort. I can't even say it's cheaper than my home. Oh and ...cash always cash, because when you pay by card, the "cheap" deal gets swallowed...
