Pebble beach giving way to sand at low tide, there are patches of mixed ground in some spots. The beach is a shallow shelving once you are over the pebble bank so swimming is best around the couple hours around high tide, before this paddling in the shallow water with children is great fun but the tide can come in quickly so beware. The water can also be weedy at times but this is heaviest at the wave front so once out swimming you should be ok. Usually a safe beach to swim if you are competent but aways take appropriate precautions. As far as I'm aware there is no lifeguarding places just an occasional beach patrol on ATV in season. Plenty of room away from the car park areas so a short walk can be rewarded with plenty of space if you want a...

During Covid 19 I have been good following Government rules strictly. I stayed at home for 5 months. When the weather turned 23 degrees I could not resist going to the beach. Went to Shoreham Beach hoping it will not be crowded. At Shoreham beach I felt safe. There was good social distancing but not everyone was wearing a mask. Children and adults were enjoying in the water. Some were kayaking, some were surfing, whilst others were relaxing. Two musketeers were hiding from the sun! Enjoyed fish and chips at the beach which always tastes better than fish and chips in the city. Had a lovely day out. A beach worth visiting. Not crowded, clean, safe and...

There is a pub and a few local shops just a short walk from the beach, public toilets are a bit further away depending on what part of the beach you use. You can cross a foot bridge to get into the town and if you don't cross the bridge and instead walk along the path to the left you will find the crazy houseboats, they are well...
