Thought about not writing this review as I don’t like slating other companies but I felt let down and disappointed in La Galleria for a few reasons , for not joining in with the rest of Shoreham by offering the help out to eat out. This scheme is to help the poor food trade that have struggled over the pandemic and to help families to be able to eat out and enjoy socialising “hopefully in a safe way”. I might be wrong but from what I gather restaurants etc get all the money back from the government so would not be a penny out of pocked. I can only imagine that it takes a little while with the paperwork. I just don’t understand why this restaurant that has been part of Shoreham for a good amount of time have not done there bit for the community. We booked a meal for a treat for my son and only found out that La Galleria were not taking part in the help out to eat out in the morning, by that time it was too late to book anywhere else as we needed outside seating. I didn’t want to let my son down so we decided to go. Food was nice, service was slow, my wife waited for a glass of wine for 20 minutes after asking twice, then her food came out 10 minutes after everyone else’s. The staff looked stressed and we felt it was understaffed. I had the feeling a few tables around us were also expecting the scheme to be applicable and also felt let down. I think they’ve made a poor decision here. We will personally not be visiting for a while and show support to other restaurants and pubs. I’m sure La Galleria will continue to do well and it helps that they are in prime spot in Shoreham but a poor business decision here from the owners not getting on board with the rest of the town and country...
Read moreVisited here for Christmas Eve, as our usual regular spot La Tavola in Southwick Square was fully booked. We both wish we saved the trip and money as this was the second time we've been La Galleria, and both times were truly dreadful experiences. Firstly when we arrived we got put onto a table which was a nice spot. Only for 2 minutes later a different member of staff came, and said that their colleague made a mistake and that we had to move. So we got moved onto the smallest most cramped table in the restaurant. The staff then took ages to serve us with a different clueless member coming each time, all as bad as eachother. Especially the stuck up snobby waitress with black hair. The food was as bad as it gets, portion sizes are suitable for a newborn baby not adults. The prices are ludicrous for the tiny amount you receive. They're also charging £15 for a single of Hennessy when you can get a whole bottle for £30 in the supermarkets🤣!! It was boiling hot in the restaurant like usual and when the air con eventually came on above us, the weird waitor kept coming over to turn it away from us even though we told him we liked it. We got the bill ASAP and got out of there quick style as we didn't want to stick around in the chaotic atmosphere with everyone shouting and screaming. Couldn't hear ourselves think or speak. Also a very judgemental place, not just the staff but also other customers. Avoid like the plague!!! La Tavola in the square is a million times better then La Galleria and we will stick to going there and make sure we book early. As we won't be visiting La...
Read moreWent here for dinner last night, and can't help but feel slightly disappointed. This is one of mine and my partners favourite restaurants been coming here a 5 6 times a year for a few years now.
Service was great always has been! Our only criticism would be the food now.
I was disappointed they didn't have the Romania Salad any more, it was my favourite thing on the menu infact the best salad ive ever eaten anywhere!! He did say they've changed the menu which is understandable just a shame its not for the better!! The mussels had a few that were not open - shouldn't of been served and had chunks of chilli in which wasn't described on the menu, also the rustic bread they serve it with is a less than half a slice of bread- it used to be a lot more.
They had pictures of a caprese salad in the menu and screens in the restaurant but didn't actually have on the menu, he did say they could make it for us which was great and delicious, he told us they would charge as for a different starter but when it arrived there were 3 slices of tomato and mozzarella (equivalent to half a tomatoe and half a ball of mozzarella) and I feel we did overpay as anything over £7 for that seems unfair (we paid just under £10) The spaghetti bolognase was again very good but also again it was a tiny portion size of your fist. The spinach and ricotta cannelloni was again a small portion compared to when we ordered it in the past. We didn't complain as we were with friends and felt uncomfortable but unfortunately it does seem they have put the prices up and minimalized...
