Many good staff at lower level, however management is absolutely terrible. It appears this store has a high staff turnover due to their incredibly poor working conditions. Floor staff frequently understaffed, management appear to refuse to man checkouts when store is busy, most recently I witnessed a manager who went out of his way to help two unpleasant entitled lycra clad women & then walked off and ignored the customer he served after them leaving him confused & frustrated.
This god's & clods mentality is incredibly unsavoury, there is a clear divide between general staff and management. Seemingly a complete lack of empathy, respect & professionalism shown by management who appear to be completely unsuited to managing anything other than getting on people's nerves, being rude, sending untrained staff out onto the floor without effective support & being hostile towards paying customers.
Unfortunately Lidl Ireland's customer service is abysmal. Both Lidl in the city centre and Castlereagh have absolutely terrible practices, unlike Belfast Connswater which is actually run like a well oiled machine. Staff appear happier, there is no chaos & in my experience I see customers being treated with respect and dignity.
Bravo connswater, if Lidl Ireland actually listened to feedback they would find out what this manager does, how he treats his staff and get him to train managers in other stores.
I strongly suspect that Lidl Belfast high Street branch has an extremely toxic atmosphere for staff, certainly for customers it is toxic...
Read moreBad experience, security guards suspected us of stealing for no reason: Because the cashier is not skilled, the customer in front of me cut in line, I was in a hurry to go to class, so I waited for a long time and finally reached the checkout very quickly swipe the card and leave, which did not ask for a receipt, in a hurry on the road, then a security guard chased out from behind, want to take us back, I was in a hurry to class so let my friend go with him, my friend said he was locked in a small black room search... Although I did not ask for a receipt, my mobile phone bank showed that I had already paid the money. As time was tight, they did not adjust the monitoring and forcibly detained my friend without evidence, which made us feel extremely insulted and not...
Read moreWithout a doubt the worst LIDL I’ve ever been to in the UK. Half the usual range, they don’t sell many normal items like Kiwis, proper Kale, 5% yogurt. Lots of bakery items not sold, way more processed / ready meal type stuff than usual.
Store is dated, dark, dirty, and a generally unpleasant environment. Seems to be used by lots of local alcoholics to come in and buy high strength cider even when they’re clearly drunk, pretty sure it’s illegal to sell alcohol to someone who is clearly intoxicated? So why are your staff doing so?
They also don’t take Amex at this branch for some reason?
Completely different quality and offering, it’s more like a Farmfoods than a LIDL. They need to close this store down it’s damaging the LIDL brand....
