I’ve been doing a wellbeing photography course with Belfast Exposed for nearly 3 years, it was my first outing after spending 2 years In lockdown isolating alone due to health issues. Even when lockdown was over I was afraid to go out, but I was persuaded by Sam Cunningham, ageNI and my family to attend. I was so nervous but it was the best thing to happen to me, I was depressed and scared. I didn’t know anyone that was going to be there, I met Mervyn and immediately relaxed and thought I’m going to try this. I met other group members as strangers but today I call them friends. We went to different open air venues, most of them I’d never been before, all beautiful !! We walked and talked and took photos with the cameras that they provided us with, it awakened my love of photography from years ago. The most amazing thing was the way Mervyn would always seem to notice if one of the group really needed to talk, sometimes I’d be lost in my own thoughts, very often not good one, next thing I’d realise Mervyn was beside me and it seemed without him asking any questions I would have spilled out all my worries to him as we continued to walk and him giving me advice on camera settings. I really looked forward to every group outing, it made my heart feel light. Then Sam came on board, she is also amazing, I just feel like I can tell them anything and speaking to other group members they all feel the same. They have lifted me up from the depths of despair to enjoying being out and about again. I was on antidepressants for years and I’m now eventually of the medication and I believe it’s all down to Mervyn and Sam, I just can’t express how much the photography group means to me
I’ve also been to amazing exhibitions and an overnight workshop event with Belfast Exposed and looking forward to seeing more of the exhibitions in...
Read moreI attended a photography training course in Belfast Exposed. The course was an introduction to using digital photography and was perfect for beginners. The tutor Chris was great. he was able to work with everyone who came to the course with a range of knowledge and experience and made everyone feel valued. The weekly assignments he sets are great fun and really get you thinking about using our camera.
It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning and I feel much more confident about getting out and using my camera.
The course being located in the Gallery also meant we got a tour of the latest exhibition which was really interesting.
This course was really worthwhile and great value for money. I will definatly be back to Belfast Exposed to take part in the next Stage of the...
Read moreWe hired Belfast Exposed to do a bespoke photography training for our marketing and communications staff.
Conor was more than patient with us and did a great job of teaching us everything from the basics to editing and formatting for different channels. In three short lessons spaced out over six weeks, our skills improved and we feel much more confident taking and editing photos. We also got useful guidance on what equipment to invest in (and what not to invest in!).
Highly recommended to any organisation looking to upskill its staff in a customised way. Conor prepared by looking at our website to understand our needs and focused the course accordingly. Having the course tailored to us with Conor coming to our offices made it very convenient and used our time efficiently over the...
