Home Bargains — Local services in Bolton

I'm a big fan of Home Bargains. Not everything is a megabargain, but almost everything is cheaper than than most places and they tend to stock a wide range of products you won't see in other shops.

Sadly, they're not as good as a lot of other shops at managing the queue times at the tills. And they regularly score zero points from me for putting stock on the shelves without any indication of the price - I have a personal policy that if a shop (any shop) can't be bothered to price their stock then I can't be bothered to pick it up or search for a member of staff to ask.

This particular store has missed out on getting 5 stars from me because smoking paraphernalia (papers, filters, etc) is behind just one of the tills. If any of that is on my shopping list I've no choice but to queue at that till however long the queue is. In other Home Bargains stores this stuff is usually on an end of...

Shocking. Shop was large and nice however paid a visit to the cafe in which looked like a bomb had hit it. 2 Rude young girls on the counter serving, asked for a bacon barm and got a “no bacon” followed by a smirk then asked for crumpets and got an answer “no crumpets” blatant rude no apology. Both had hairnets on but the hair hanging out at the front defeats the point of even wearing one. Visited on the 22/10/2025 at around 3pm. Both girls mainly stood around doing nothing whilst almost every table in the cafe was dirty, had dirty pots on it and numerous other people were saying how bad it was yet they refused to do anything. Hope action is taken against these girls as they have no customer service skills are just rude and lazy. Names on the reciept was...

Visited the cafe today we ordered x2 bacon and sausage rolls,a cappuccino and a tea the rolls were nice apart from there was only 1 slice of bacon would if been nice to have 2 slices to match the 2 sausage,we sat in the cafe for a good hour and it was very busy customers having food and drinks etc then noticed that once customers had eaten and gone no members of staff went round to clean/wipe any of the tables as our table had dried tea/coffee stains on. I think this is a must as I know it's not nice to sit down at a dirty table before eating.

Other than that we did enjoy our sausage...
