My regular store and I've never had any issue at this store thats ever compelled me to write a review before today's experience (happened between 1900hrs and 1930 on till 3. I've just witnessed the most blatant case of discrimination by a manager (I heard another colleague call him by Lee) today towards a young mother under the false pretense of 'I just dont feel comfortable selling them to you". A young asian mother attempted to simply purchase fireworks. She had 2 kids with her (all 3 were wearing headscarves for ease of identification if an area manager would care to view any available cctv footage in retrospect). The mother requested a £59 bundle from the leaflet that was given to her and was initially told by Lee that she couldnt purchase any fireworks because he wasn't comfortable selling them to her children. The mother proclaimed that she waa confused because her daughters were not making the purchase but she was. She asked what the issue was but Lee provided no justification other than repeating he wasnt 'comfortable' selling them to her, whatever that meant. The lady was understandably dumbfounded and asked if she should drop her kids off in the car with her shopping and return to purchase the fireworks to clarify any misconceptions as to who was actually making the purchase. She also stated that she had her ID to hand and that he was free to examine it if needed, but Lee unwaveringly refused and stated she wouldnt be served if she came back in the store to purchase the fireworks. I was taken aback both by his aggresive attitude and now began to silently question his intent. I have personally witnessed several firework sales over the last few days to hijabless non asian customers where the transactions were completed without delay. So why the double standards and respective tirade with no sound basis for refusal? This manager needs to be investigated ALDI in particular this incident. If an area manager is reading this it needs to be addressed. The lady left, shocked and understandably dismayed after a couple of minutes, so as not to cause a scene. Her childrens expressions...lets just say it was heart wrenching to watch as they left the store truly saddened with no apparent justification (Im writing this review at 0116hrs-so after midnight. It happened on...
Read moreIf you shop at Aldi you will probably be familiar with the layout of almost all stores as it is almost identical.
However, this particular store seem to have large trolleys in the middle of aisles stacking shelves during peak shopping hours on the weekend. Ruins the whole experience.
It is also one of the busiest Aldi stores I've ever been too. It is frustrating shopping at this branch for the above mentioned reasons.
The self check outs are great. As its never clear where to queue for a till. As there never seems to be any staff organising people to form an orderly queue.
Sometimes some essentials such as blue top milk, eggs and some brands of bread are out of stock. Just goes to show how busy this store is. Again adds to the frustration of shopping here.
The car park is an absolute nightmare to get out. If you have children or are disabled. Don't expect to find a parking spot in a designated bay as there's never a space due to inappropriate use. It can be a struggle to find a car parking space accross the wider car park in general on a weekend.
Trolleys seem to be left in all corners of the car park and never moved back closer to the store entrance. Annoying when you have to wander around to suddenly see 10 to 25 trolleys near the child parking spots and none out front of the store.
The greedflation at Aldi is something else too. Prices have gone up and stayed up without coming down. Part of me wanders if this is just greed as opposed to inflation.
Shoping here no matter how frustrating currently serves a purpose. It's no where near as cheap as it once was but arguably still cheaper than Tesco, Asda and Morrisons. Therefore, will continue to shop here but cannot rate the retail park or Aldi store any more than 1 star for all the above reasons.
Update: the trolley situation has only marginally improved. Stock levels at this store have worsened. Certain items regularly available are often out of stock or no where to be found. To cite my last 3 trips to this store there has been no yeast, raisins in the little boxes, and eggs are a hit...
Read moreI have used this store a few times it has very rude staff. A member of staff was pulling at my one year old child's ball. It was her own toy not theirs and after asking the member of staff why are you pulling her toy. She scared my child. Because of hygiene reason I was not happy for the staff to be touching my childs toy because they are touching all sorts of stuff all day long.they didn't sell a ball like that so I don't understand why she was pulling the strings on the ball. When I spoke to the Manager she was even rude and threatened to call the police and called 5 other staff members to remove me and family. I did nothing wrong I went in as a customer and was paying for My things and instead I was being threatened by a member of staff because i asked them why are you pulling my child's toy. This was my child's own property they had no need to touch it. Then they called 5 other members of staff and I got very scared because they came so close up to me in my face. They didn't like the fact that I asked them why are you pulling at my child's toy. They should of asked me and not touch and pull my child's property. I have been to many other aldi's i have never seen this before.I would never come back to shop they disrespected me and my family. I had to be straight and tell them your hands are not clean you touch items and money all day long and how dare you pull my daughters toy from her. They have no right to pull the toy because it was the my child's property. The manager came over and never apologized she was worser than the other staff who pulled my...
