I absolutely love going to Cavanagh's! I first found their shop earlier this year and it has since become my main reason for visiting Edinburgh as often as I can. I really like that it's a small family run business and every time I have been, I have had a fantastic experience thanks to Simon and his Dad, you can tell how passionate they are and that they are both extremely knowledgeable about the items they have, which are all very interesting and unique. Their little store is beautiful and presented like a small museum, everything they have is a fascinating piece of history. I go mainly for numismatics and they have excellent pricing and some beautiful examples of historic coins, as well as lots of rare finds. It's been an amazing journey so far building my collection with Simon and I always look forward to going back whenever I have some time, to have a chat and get some new pieces for my collection. Just returned from a short break in Edinburgh and happened to come across this little gem. After spotting a delightful antique ring in the window I just had to go in and I was so glad I did. It's jammed full of interesting treasures. The gentleman that served me was friendly and helpful and very patient with me as I couldn't make up my mind as there was too many to choose from! Was looking for something special to get my wife for our anniversary and popped into this shop. The owner was very nice and helpful. Good selection of items at fair prices. I was torn between 2 rings and made my choice. I returned the next day, because I got such a good deal on the one ring that I wanted to pick up the ring I left behind, but didn't realize it was Bank Holiday so they were closed.
