Pre-booking does not reserve a space for you at this car park. Anyone can park at any time and if the carpark is full you have to wait until someone leaves. If it's busy like it was when I visited you may have to wait a very long time. This information isn't made clear on the booking page and is hidden in the fine print of the terms and conditions and on a FAQ page that no user would ever look at. Don't bother with pre-booking at all.
The parking bays are too narrow - the only bays that were available when I eventually got in were next to walls and were so narrow that I couldn't open my door wide enough to get out of the drivers seat even with leaving no room to open the door on the passenger side. I then had to wait again for someone to leave from a different spot and had to use my coat to prevent my door from marking the next car over when I did get out.
I was in a standard sedan so avoid if you drive anything bigger than a...
Read morev easy to prebook but only realised when we arrived at specified time that prebooking did not mean that you are able to park. when we arrived the car park was FULL and we were unable to park. we waited for over half an hour before able to enter car park. once in we found a space and parked up, only to then find that the signage to enable easy exit very difficult to follow. especially as we had our grandkids in a double buggy. We did find the lifts to get out but could hardly get the buggy into them. all in all a very very stressful experience. On exiting the car park all worked well and the bar code supplied with the prebooking worked as expected, freinds of ours did experience a slight difficulty but was very quickly sorted using the assitance button. So a 3 star rating REALLY CANNOT SEE POINT OF PREBOOKING IF NO SPACE IS RESERVED AS PAYMENT HAS BEEN TAKEN FOR THE SPACE so if future will just turn up at 1st car park with an...
Read moreI've been in the UK for nearly a month and been appalled at the state and cost of British car parks (have you been to the one at the Arndale Centre in Manchester?). But then I used Q-Park Shambles and my faith has been partly restored. In my favour, it was in the evening and therefore not busy, nor expensive, but to have secure gates, a working ticket machine and a lift that doesn't smell like a toilet is an unusual pleasure. The interior of the place is well lit, not too low, and the spaces seem a little wider the standard. Believe me, when you come from North America as I do, British car parking spaces are unsually tiny. I particularly liked the pedestrian lobby that can only be accessed if you have a ticket. I doubt we'll be back in the UK for a while, but when we are, we will seek out Q-Park should we need City...
