In my opinion Cardiff City Centre offers one of the best shopping experiences in Wales. There are so many places to shop including Queen Street, The Capitol Shopping Centre, the shopping Arcades near St Mary's Street (vintage, independent and antique stores), the indoor market, the seasonal Christmas outdoor market and the Saint David's (Dewi Sant} Shopping Centre.
The Saint David's Shopping Centre is undercover and modern with a fantastic range of restaurants, snack bars, coffee and dessert shops to suit all budgets and tastes. There are over 190 shops including Primark, Jack & Jones, Pandora, Card Factory, Gold Smiths, Peacocks, Hollister, Diamond Heaven, Bershka, Lego, Menkind, John Lewis, White Stuff, H & M, Clogau, Apricot and Boots. There really is something for everyone, and there is a great selection of shops selling jewellery, toy, shoes, clothes, homeware, cosmetics and perfume, sportswear and mobile phone accessories.
Other facilities at the shopping centre include a 2000 space carpark (charges apply), late night shopping, a cinema, free Wi-Fi, foreign exchange and cash points, baby feeding stations, toilets and first aid. The secure shopping centre is well laid out and immaculate with plenty of CCTV and approachable friendly staff.
We would recommend a visit to the shopping centre because this is a perfect place for everyone (solo travellers, couples, families and large groups) to visit all year around, especially on rainy days. Cardiff is a magnificent city with a lively bar scene, an abundance of restaurants and lots of attractions including museums, a castle, a cathedral, theatres, parks and...
Read moreThe website implies the one course is designed for those aged 6 & upwards but really both courses are suitable for anyone who can pretty much hold a stick! Originally I was charged for a family ticket when in fact it was cheaper to be charged separately with 2 children 5 & 3, 1 adult & 1 over 60. I was told to try & keep each person's shots to a maximum of 6 per hole which was impossible with 2 little amateurs that I took, averaging about 8-12 shots each per hole. So I went back for a refund for two adults because I was mindful of the time it would otherwise take all 4 of to play each round. Thankfully all the other players on the course were super patient with us, so the kids weren't forced to rush. We probably spent an hr to complete 2 courses. There were lots of tables to sit at & lockers to store our stuff. Most of the holes were pretty standard & nothing too challenging. The atmosphere was quite laid back & everything looked pretty good & clean. Definitely would suggest if taking kids then just pay for them as we had more fun watching them play (or trying to play) than attempting to play alongside them. The photo booth at the end could do with being a lower as both kids needed picking up just to be in the shot or something for the shorter ones to stand on would have been better. The extra hole to win a free game at the end didn't appeal to one of mine because it doesn't give your ball back so she refused to play either of her extra free shots! Wish I'd brought them a medal at the end because they stayed committed till the very end & took turns nicely, they both thought it was...
Read moreThis review refers to Village Hotels St.Davids in Ewloe. Hotel has spent a lot remodelling the public spaces, a restaurant-bar- football cinema seating (not sure how the diners feel sharing the reasuraurant with footie supporters- but there's always is the pub next door for better value anyway) , but not much on the accommodation which hadn't changed much in the 2.5 years since I stayed last. Room had some staining on carpet, tv remote didn't work and at first didn't give us the connecting rooms booked. Luckily we arrived early and the great receptionist managed to arrange a swap to make the connection. Lucky we did, the next morning only 1 of the rooms had hot water, and the other had no shampoo and shower gel, tried to raise a call for repair only to be told that maintenance do work weekends. No offer of discount or remediation and very little customer service on offer, but exactly the same problems as 3 years ago. Can spend the money on the public areas any gym, but not the hotel guests. Get the breakfast as part of the room deal if you can, it's not bad, but not as good as past, now you have to order eggs separately which sort of disjoint the meal. I think Village can't make up it's mind whether it's a hotel or gym/pub with...
