I usually don't have an issue with this store or pharmacy but last week I went to the superdrug inside the Derbion to get some pain relief for women's issues that I have been living with for the best part of 18 years and that I am seeing specialists for.
This time however, I was treated like an addict and interrogated. The woman on the checkout of the pharmacy decides to interrogate me about why I'm buying it what treatment I have had from the specialists (none yet because I'm on a waiting list like everyone else who uses the NHS) It wasn't done discreetly either, other customers who had just been served before me were still in the vicinity and could hear the conversation and heard about my medical issues too. So much for confidentiality!
She claimed that she had seen me purchase this pain relief before but admitted that she had not seen me for a while (so why are you interrogating me??) the last time I had purchased this particular pain relief was at the end of February - the beginning of March according to my bank statement, it's now the end of May. If I was buying this medication everyday I would understand the intervention but I'm not! And even if I was taking it every day, this sort of conversation should have been private. I feel like I was picked on because I don't particularly look well and because I have a tremor, both of these things I am seeing a neurologist for and they aren't drug related, not that it's anyone's business!
I chose superdrug because I felt safe and treated fairly but now I'm not. I'm still angry and embarrassed about this interaction. I shouldn't feel attacked about the way I look or the issues I have, nor should I be embarrassed about buying a medication that I have a justified reason to take.
I won't be shopping at this store anymore and I will just go to boots, yes it costs more but at least I am treated with...

Read moreShop is tidy and clean, and most of the workers there are very helpful and polite. However there is one woman with very short blonde hair who is very rude, whenever I enter the store she closely looks at whatever I’m doing like I’m going to steal something and has even followed me around once! Thought it was just me but even my friends that are of an ethnic minority have also encountered the same issue!
