I had to give a 1 star because there’s no option for the 0 stars. I bought a suitcase on 1/4/2025 to travel abroad on 2/4/2025 for 3 weeks. I returned on 19/4/2025 and found that my suitcase I had purchased on 1/4/2025 had a tiny rip at the bottom so I took it back to Tesco extra, which is where I had purchased it from. I was seen by a Mexican staff member (I could not get her name as she hid her name badge as soon as she realised that I was looking to get her name) who accused me of using it more than once I.e., between 2/4/2025 and 19/4/2025. So I asked to speak to the manager. She told the manager (Jack)the same thing about the usage of the case which I had purchased less than a month ago! So I showed the boarding passes of both ways showing the dates as well as the receipt of the suit case I had purchased but I was accused of bringing an old suitcase so I showed the serial number which matched the suitcase I had purchased but they still accused me of lying. I did not know how else to convince them so I asked the manager to get someone of higher authority, but in the mean time the Mexican staff member accused me of swearing at her along with another staff member. When I tried to say that I had not sworn they weren’t prepared to listen and called the security to remove me and my husband, I asked to give me a contact number/ email address for the head office but Jack the manager demanded that my husband who had not even said a word, to leave the premises because my husband was trying to record the evidence for the staffs’ rudeness. We left and I took the case at another branch of the Tesco store and they refunded it without any fuss!
Apparently, the Mexican woman at the customer service counter had a run in with my husband in March 2025 when he went to purchase the lottery ticket and she was busy chatting with a colleague regarding each others family lives havinga mothers meeting and when my husband asked her to serve him, she bit his head off saying in a very rude tone “I’m in the middle of a meeting!” My husband purchases his lottery ticket there regularly, and she’s remembered him since the last run in she’d had with him and hence rude the treatment today!
However; the duty manager, Jack fell for her lies despite all the evidence I had presented instead of using his own discretion as a manager and ended insulting myself and my husband and kicked us out of the premises.
I am a respectful civil service manager and a decision maker and would not ever pull a fast one for a £35.00 suitcase. My husband also works for a reputable establishment and we have never lived on public funds.
This was our right to ask for a refund for the product that was too flimsy and’s not fit for the purpose and I was returning it within 1 month of the purchase date.
I fail to understand how that rude mexican woman got the job at the Tesco store and still holding it with this disgusting rude bigoted behaviour! Also Jack the manager, is not even capable of using his professional discretion as a manager! And jumped on the band wagon with the ill mannered colleague of his to insult us?? Should he be even a manager when he does not even have his own opinion???
I had been a regular customer at the different Tesco Store branches since 1979 and feel extremely insulted with the disgusting behaviours of the staff at the Southend branch.
Tesco store seriously need to remove these ill mannered staff who does not even know the meaning of a decent Customer Service.
I had been a customer service trainer at various reputable companies like the Halifax bank and Asda Stores in the past and have never seen or experienced anything like this in my...
Read moreSometime ago I went over Tesco's to see if they had any tracksuit bottoms that had zipup pockets.
After having a really good look I decided to get a second oppinion from one of their staff.
And I can tell you now that their idea of service was a joke from start to finish....
First there was no member of staff in the clothing department of the building at all, then I complain to one of the people at Customer Service explaining that is no staff in that area at all when there should be and then I have this bloody woman trying to tell me that she was in the clothing department all the time yeah like Hell she was....
So I told her what jogging bottoms I was lookng for and her best way to deal with both the customer and the situation was to tell me to look for them online and also expected me to be a zombie to the cause and hide behind a computer monitor rather then be bothered to deal with a living breathing person....
I told her to her face that if she thought I was doing everything by computer in my life she was joking and that as far as I am concerned I would sooner be 100 percent human then end up like her a absessive person who can't do a thing without a single computer, momitor or mainframe been involved.
Then the other day I went over there to buy a set of shoes/ trainers that I had seen there before.
I found a member of staff and explained what I wanted, but the lady just looked right through me as if I were a waldrobe....
Honestly I don't know what she was playing at when she wasn't serving anyone at all??
Stroll on if she had fallen behind anymore so when I finally did get her so called attention I would have had to borrow the collar and leash from the nearest dog just to keep her going in the right direction....
They were sold out of the shoes I needed so I left
In short I don't what's worse about Tesco's....
Been messed about when it isn't even on or been kept waiiting for an unfair amont of time when all the customer wants be they man woman or child is a civil answer to a civil question.
Good luck in finding that here....
I'm also amazed that two of the most annoying staff I have ever set eyes on end up making any wages at all at the end of the day considering how much time they dare to waste at the...
Read moreTesco Extra Southend-on-Sea: A Shopper's Review Tesco Extra in Southend-on-Sea is a large supermarket offering a wide range of products and services. Here's a review bas I would recommend Tesco Extra Southend-on-Sea for a one-stop shop for groceries and other household needs. But be prepared for potential crowds and stock availability issues during weekend ends and peak hours .
Extensive Selection: The store boasts a vast selection of groceries, including fresh produce, meat, dairy, and pantry staples. A decent selection of household goods, electronics, clothing, and even some furniture, but recently got rid of the fresh fish counter and and reduced the size of their bakery. Competitive Prices: Tesco's prices are generally competitive, special offers and discounts.Their Clubcard program provides additional savings for loyal customers. Convenient Location: The store is conveniently located before entering the Southend city centre with ample parking, making it easily accessible for shoppers. Additional Services: Tesco Extra offers various services beyond grocery shopping, such as a pharmacy, photo printing, and a clothing department, cafe a sushi bar, cas machine, a Timpsons store, fuel garage and a click to collect at the entrance of the store Friendly Staff: The staff members I encountered were generally friendly and helpful. Cons: Store Size: The sheer size of the store and the crowd during peak hours can be overwhelming for some shoppers, it maybe difficult to find specific items. Checkout Queues: checkout queues can be long during peak hours, can be a little frustrating but have many self-service check counters Stock Availability: As you see in every supermarket some items can be out of stock, which is understandable. Overall, Tesco Extra Southend-on-Sea is a good supermarket with a wide range of products and services. the competitive prices and convenient location make it a popular choice for shoppers...
