I've always loved Tesco....up until today!! Never had a worker make me feel so small...and in front of other customers too!! I had over £110 quids worth of shopping, carefully planned out as I had a voucher too from the school. Some was taken off due to clubcard though, which is irrelevant but just stating facts. I had 70 odd quids worth of food obviously, as I was using the voucher for that. Then my alcohol for our Christmas party tomorrow, which I had money for. The woman on the till shouted another woman over as she wasn't sure whether she was "allowed to use the voucher because I had alcohol" ... the other woman come over and was like "Aww no we don't have any say over that" ... then continued to REPEAT over and over again "Yea, they shouldn't really be spending it on alcohol but ya know" ... that was said at least 4 times from the "lady" that walked over so I decided to shut that shit down and tell her I have money for my alcohol, the voucher is being used for the food, clearly!! Then she had the audacity to stare at me as though I'd disrespected her Mother or something!! Like hun you're the one out here trying to make out im using my sons voucher for alcohol, pretty sure its you thats rude!!!! As a single mother I've tried my best to get this Christmas Party sorted for my son, right before Christmas too and she has the audacity to put me down because I'm buying alcohol, along with the food that said voucher was for!!! Who on earth does she think she is??? She wants to mind her own business and stop embarrassing customers!! Even if I didn't have the money for my drink, what business is it of hers exactly??!! Imagine if that was her daughter who got treat like that??!! Nobody knows any ones situation so for her to stand there and preach to the choir was ridiculous and down right rude!!! My purse was open, she could blatantly see I had plenty money but because I've spent so much on the party already I used the voucher for the remainder of party food needed so I wasn't dipping into what I need for Christmas presents!! NOT that I need to explain myself to that absolute creature!! Mind you're own business next time love and listen with ya ears not your mouth!!! Disgusting behaviour!!! Also just to clarify, I got myself a bottle of Baileys £13 quid and 10 stella for £9.99. I also got 2 bottles of Freixenet Cava Rose to welcome our guests at £8.50 each, so £17!! My total was £114 and something pence. She can figure it out for herself!!🙄🙄🙄 Hopefully she doesn't embarrass any other mothers moving things around a bit and using the vouchers for FOOD to make their kids Christmas perfect!! Oh and to any mother/father actually using the voucher to get a bottle of wine or 2, or a couple of cans, go for it, you deserve it!!!! We're allowed treats too!! It's certainly not coco th...
Read moreFirst visit to this Tesco Extra café and faced with McDonald's style self order touch screens. Not sure what the advantage is over interactions with till staff. Your staff across the board are usually friendly and a pleasure to speak to, but our experience today wasn't positive.
At the time of writing this review, the touch screens are missing any way to add notes about your order, or for informing the café staff of when you have a specific request.
For us we only wanted to request that the tea bag be left out of our order for tea... Cannot stomach strong tea, but no way to do this during the order process. So we finished our breakfast order and mentioned our request to the staff, with one of them quickly stating that our request couldn't be followed... Basically "computer says no" ... Fabulous customer service and the attitude immediately got my heckles up.
So when the tea arrived it was way too strong. So I scooped out the teabag and rejected the tea and requested a pot of hot water. The serving staff member was happy to do this, but it would have been a better experience, and more efficient to deal with the request upfront.
To be fair, apart from the negative attitude from a single member of staff, the rest of the café staff were friendly, but seemed to be unhappy with having to strictly follow the process ... Just my impression here. They didn't make any comments to that point.
Otherwise the food was okay, albeit with dried out fried eggs served.
The change to touch screens seems not well thought through and needs adapting a little to allow for some flexibility and/or customer feedback.
First world problems... I know... But Saturday breakfast time is sacrosanct for me and you've spoilt mine...
Read moreI love this restaurant not only for the convenience of it being in the shop you're doing your groceries but also because of food and the friendliness of the staff. I have been coming into this restaurant for many years (I remember bringing my daughter in her pushchair and now she is in seniors school!). The thing that never changes is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff!! My daughter is one of the fussiest girls I have ever met... I always thought that the staff would cringe when they saw us, they may have! But they didn't show it and gave her whatever concoction she had thought of!! Many restaurants have refused to do this and say they have to stick to what's written on the board so that in itself is a big help to parents of fussy children! Not only is it a help to parents but also to the elderly. I have spoken to several older people who come every day for breakfast or lunch, or come once a week, not only for the reasonably priced meal but also just to socialise, the staff know them by their first names and people they know stop and talk. I myself although younger am on crutches and staff are always very helpful making sure I am okay and bring my drinks etc to the table. The food is lovely, usual type of supermarket restaurant food and I love how their large lattes are...
