I stayed just outside Crail while on holiday with my 4 dogs 5th Sep 25,,walked into the Beehive to be greeted with a very friendly face i think it was Joanne the owner,,offering me treats and water for my dogs then when i asked re menu Joanne went through it for me,,i chose the soup of the day, coffee and the carrot cake though it took some time to choose from the amazing looking cakes on offer,,i paid with surprise to the cost,,i thought well priced and cheaper than alot of places i visit and i am a foodie i go to alot of cafes,,i chose to sit outside and my food came within 5 minutes,,i looked at the soup with a WOW!,it was a beet soup with mixed veg it tasted amazing and i make alot of soups i told Joanne it was the nicest soup i had ever tasted, the bread that came with it was very soft and enough,,then i had my carrot cake which was also very tasty the coffee was different,,i dont usually drink coffee but this coffee was lovely,,i certainly would recommend anyone to pop in here,,parking and plenty of seating also outside,,only place il go next time im in Crail,,Thank you to Joanne and staff for the friendly welcome,,very hard to come by these days!!

We did the coastal walk today with Crail being our final destination. What a beautiful town! We were delighted to find this cafe before our bus back to Pittenweem. Very convenient that the bus stop is right beside the cafe!

The shop is wonderfully curated with a fantastic selection of art books especially ones I had never heard of, the content I found was very inspiring and inclusive. The selection of baked treats was so good that I had a hard time deciding what to get! I went for this delicious raspberry and pistachio bite that was exactly what I needed. The store owner was lovely and super informative and the staff were very helpful and accommodating (especially when we changed our minds and asked to have our things to go instead of eat in incase we weren’t able to finish our food before the bus would come!) I thought the shop and cafe were priced well for the quality you are receiving and would definitely recommend this to anyone passing through especially artists looking for a good read for a boost of creative inspiration.

Visited today for the first time. On the one hand I recognise the difficulty of opening and running a business in a small village. On the other hand I didn’t think it very good value. The cappuccino I ordered did not look very appealing but once it cooled a bit revealed that it had been made with excellent coffee. The cake was absolutely fine but I do not exaggerate when I say that it was the smallest piece of cake that I’ve ever been served. It was £3.50 so not expensive but I would have rather paid a bit more and had a more normal sized serving. My wife ordered two ice creams and a coffee and it came to over £16. She queried it at the time and was assured that the sum was correct. When she told me what happened I assured her it was not possible, she queried it with someone else and was eventually refunded nearly £4.00. It was busy and mistakes can be made but could have been rectified earlier. Honestly, I’d go back, it’s s nice place in a nice spot. Hopefully for a bigger piece of cake next time!

Nice shop, but don’t get takeaway from here. They charge the same as if you sit in, and you can see from the pictures it was terrible value! £7.90 for a kids sandwich that was one slice of bread with some tuna scattered inside and a handful of cheap tortillas. The adult one wasn’t much better. The roll was nice, but the salad was brown and for £10+ as a takeaway sandwich it was shocking. It was too nice a day to sit indoors, but it’s cheeky to charge so much for such poor offerings. I also asked for a bag for the 3 sets of sandwiches and apparently, despite spending £45 in the shop, this was a hassle for the staff. Service therefore didn’t make up for the poor value.
There’s just something about the Beehive in Crail that keeps me coming back—and it’s not just the amazing coffee and cakes! I love everything about it so much that I make the trip from St Andrews every Wednesday. Johanne and Libby always welcome me with warm smiles and contagious laughter—so much so that I now consider them friends. It’s the perfect place to relax, unwind, chat, and browse to your heart’s content. I would selfishly like to keep this gem to myself but it's too good not to share, so you should go!
