RX Fisheries — Local services in Hastings

We never had problems when it was Johnny Swans, however on our last 2 visits to Hastings, we weren't at all impressed with the service, they weren't friendly at all....however, even worse, is the fact that BOTH TIMES we bought scallops and.....the first time, my elderly friend had FOOD POISONING caused by the scallops he ate, he ended up in hospital for a week.....a year later, we gave them another chance (yesterday), and tonight we cooked the scallops, which we were concerned about from the start, as they didn't look very appetizing, in fact quite brown. I could tell that they weren't right when i cooked them but after a mouthful, we spat them out as they were off. Just unacceptable, we are happy to pay 8 pounds 50 for 8 scallops, but these people should really do a food hygiene course and make sure they don't make...

🌊 Absolutely Fresh & Worth Every Penny🌊 No seating, just a standing counter, but when the seafood is this fresh, you won’t even notice!

We ordered 4 oysters (£1.50 each), 1 half lobster (£12.50), and small cups of whelks (£3.20), cockles (£3.20), and mussels (£3). Every bite was absolutely delicious, tasting like it came straight from the sea.

As Hongkongers missing home, this brought back some fond memories and satisfied our Cantonese seafood cravings. A big thank you to the lovely lady today (3rd Aug 2025)who kindly brought our oysters over to the table we were standing at. It’s such a nice gesture to go with the amazing food.

CAN’T RECOMMEND HIGHLY ENOUGH 🤗🤗 Not only the BEST seafood/fish seller in Hastings but also the BEST customer service and price. We bought white crabmeat/whole sea bass/peeled prawns/mussels/cockles/whole prawns-extra large and nothing disappointed. The sea bass was amazing, cooked in foil in the oven, so flavoursome , best had in soo long. Extra large prawns cooked in garlic n butter were just so, so tasty. All in all EVERYTHING was best quality, fantastic buy at a reasonable price, served by an amazing young man for whom nothing was too much trouble. CAN’T RECOMMEND HIGHLY ENOUGH.
