Stade is an Anglo Saxon word for landing place, the Hastings fishing fleet is drawn up on the beach here It is well worth looking around the boats, but the area is an Industrial one, there are many hazards to be aware of There are many boats on the beach, plus nets, flags, traps, bulldozers, winch cables, and other necessary equipment needed for fishing. Also there are retired boats, rather dilapidated. When fish are caught, some are sold in the little huts along the Winch Road, these stalls are very popular ,so fish is sold quickly I like to look upon the Stade as a living museum, fishing is in decline, so make the most of what is here.

It’s not a beach for sitting about on and making sandcastles. It’s a pebble beach with lots of fishing boats. Interesting to stroll about and see the historical fishing village with some boats still active. Lots of cafes and restaurants here and seafood places. There’s also a miniature railway still active with a station here. Enjoy!

In the good weather this is an interesting and excellent destination for a local walk and other things that can be done here while around. Many nice photos can be had in the sunny weather, though always good in dry...
