Been a customer for over 10 years. Me my dad and my grandad and friends all go here , never had a issue. But apparently all that loyalty has gone down the drain and it means nothing to coes. I went in past 9pm before closing and got a few bags of chips and some fish. Having never had a issue with coes before , the chips where quite literally brown and stale and the fish was nice but the batter on the fish was a brownish darkish colour. Very poor. Now i don't drive and the coes manager asked why i didn't bring it back , fair enough question. They where about to close and like i said i don't drive and i wasn't prepared to waste more money on a taxi. I was basically accused of lying on the phone , the manager said and i quote 'it was a bit unusual everything was wrong'. Well unfortunately in this case everything was wrong , the manager then said as we didn't bring the food back there was nothing they could do , well if someone tells you they and their family has been using your establishment for over 10 years you don't not do nothing. Terrible. Off to crossgates fishbar again and skyliners and so is everyone else i know thats being using coes. All you had to do was check the CCTV and see the chips colour and...
Read moreFood is nice, always fresh. Odd time when you can tell its old cooking oil but that's rare. Reasonable prices. Unfortunately there's one staff member there who drags down the atmosphere a bit. I don't know her name because they don't wear name badges but recently she always seems to be in a bad mood and unhappy, she's always stomping around and slamming things and she's always complaining under her breath about her colleagues behind her who are cooking, she is also often short with them. She really looks like she doesn't enjoy working there and she's makes visiting more stressful than it needs to be. Not sure how her colleagues put up with her because they all just shrug off what she's saying a if they are used to it. She was stood complaining about jaw ache on my recent visit, perhaps it would ache less of she wasn't constantly complaining and actually greeting customers with a...
Read moreWasn't planning on having fish & chips for tea as we had already planned something... however after a short trip to the local Evri drop-off point, our nostrils suddenly woke up to the amazing aromas descending from Coes fisheries..... A brief discussion was had and we ventured inside..... The service was exceptional, polite, big smiles and very welcoming.. The fish was freshly cooked and came out perfect, flakey with just the right amount of crispy, melt in your mouth batter... The chips, such a disappointment in most eateries these days, were crisp and well cooked and tasted perfect when dipped into the must-have curry sauce.... Overall it was less than £20 for the two of us and that included a can of coke each.... A fantastic experience, keep up the great work and we shall be...
