I feel the need to write and provide my comments on the way I was welcomed this evening.
I have in the past been a big advocate of Masala Hut and eaten there many times. I have in the past had take away food and enjoyed the experience.
Unfortunately the experience received this evening was appalling. I called ahead and asked for a table for one at 7:30. The person on the other end didn’t seem impressed nor filled me with confidence it was even possible, he didn’t take a name and the call abruptly ended. If the one customer wasn’t wanted he should have said.
When attending I was shown to an unmade table in the corner. No problem - but the table wasn’t set and instead the server got knives and forks and threw them On the table, didn’t place them and seemed to find my presence inconvenient.
The table was filthy with remnants of food encrusted on it. Not welcoming at all.
I would have quite happily spent time and money this evening but the thought turned my stomach to a degree that I had to leave. I felt as though my presence was a huge disappointment.
Standards have dropped. And it pains me to say it will be a long time before I am back. I was a table of one and appreciate this lessens the income but the waiters need to work on their customer service.
I very rarely leave Google reviews on anything but I feel really disgusted and contemplating doing so - I will however resist until tomorrow to ensure it’s balanced.
I write this whilst having dinner in La Cantina where I was welcomed and treated as a...
Read moreWe have visited The Massala Hut dozens of times over the years and feel a glowing review is due, specially after last nights visit. As a couple we are massive curry fans and eaten in hundreds of restaurants, both here and aboard, plus I make a great many at home from scratch. We know what we like and what makes a great curry, take it from me The Massala hut makes a splendid curry, in fact (in my opinion) the best in Leeds and beyond. We had their Achari Lamb chop starter that came out sizzling on a bed of fresh onions, that had been cooked to perfection (crispy and almost burned on the outside succulent and tender on the inside coated in a beautiful spicy and tangy dark sauce). My favorite curry is generally a Dopiaza and I love a fish curry (I think there is only two actual fish currys on the menu which I have had loads of times) so this time asked if they would do me a fish dopiaza, not a problem! it was outstanding and went beautifully with a cheese naan. Yes the prices have shot up in recent months (like every where) but this is top class food and have never had a bad meal from here. The service is always great, with friendly staff. Take a bottle of your own wine to drink, order a curry of your choice, the...
Read more7 months ago I added a good review but since then I have received 2 bad experiences at this restaurant. The first time we had to stand outside waiting for half an hour for a table that we had booked. Last Friday we arrived and again our table wasn't ready. We were told which table we were going to be sitting on but the people were still pouring drinks and showing no signs of leaving. I explained to one of the staff that this was the 2nd time we have had to stand uncomfortably waiting and immediately before I had a chance to finish my sentence he talked over me, did not apologise for our wait and was quick to tell me it was not their fault and they can't force people to go. I suggested another table that was empty but he said that was reserved for 9 o'clock. We had a table reserved for 9 o'clock and had already arrived... on time ! I say if you don't arrive on time, expect your table to be allocated to someone else. He was very aggressive especially when I said we will have to leave. Apparently they only allow 90 minutes between customers. I no longer recommend this place, CUSTOMER SERVICE IS APPAULING. There are plenty more cheap and cheerful indian restaurants in the area. I...
