This used to be my usual place to hang out for a drink, but after how the management treated its staff which caused them all to leave and with how they replaced them with an all new set of staff who don’t have experience in working in a coffee shop before, this Costa has unfortunately really gone down hill.
When you arrive, expect a queue and expect to be waiting at least 30 minutes before even reaching the front! The staff are very slow and give off a really negative vibe which makes it feel like they really don’t want to be there. When you get a drink like a latte expect a huge head of foam and little coffee, would recommend a large if you want a medium. When you try to sit down after all that there will be loads of tables to now choose from, but expect them to be really dirty from the last people who sat on them as staff are really slow to clean tables up after use.
It’s from all this I’ve chosen to go to De Nico’s as my usual now. The staff are much nicer, the service is a lot faster and tables are cleaned almost instantly after people leave. It’s gotten so many regulars from Costa going to it now so it just shows I’m not alone on my...
Read moreI'll not go on much about the coffee itself - it's a Costa Coffee so you get a decent cup of the brown stuff much like you will at any of their sites. The staff are generally fine - some cheerful, some a little distant, but all rustle up a good brew.
However, we're often put off visiting as we tend to fancy a stop after work but they will start spraying tables next to you with reckless abandon, and rather "enthusiastically" and noisly start vacuum cleaning a good hour before they close. None of that makes for a pleasant atmosphere for a stop and breather after work.
Do check out the Costa up at Seacroft Tesco though. So long as you don't get the one oddly negative shift manager you'll be good, and if you're lucky you'll get the super cheerful and enthusiastic barista who finds everyone's...
Read moreSince the opening of this Costa (I am a great fan of the Coffee Shop Chain), it has had its ups and downs of Highs to Lows and back. Prices are good (considering there are several other Cafes around it), food is good, service is a lot better than some of the others. Always packed and achieving a character all of its own. Be aware that prices of Coffee have increased and that some of the food items have increased too. Also, if you, like me, prefer Whole Milk in your Latte, then you MUST ask - or insist - because it would seem it is automatically assumed everyone wants Semiskimmed Milk. Costa Coffee has had many traditions in its rise to fame, though a few of these are now...
